My new E-bike

So far nobody has mentioned the health benefits of gently cycling for us geriatrics. I find gentle cycling has been good for my knees. We've got a local bird reserve (medmerry) that has miles of basically flat gravel tracks , our seaside village has a track along the seawall, basically couple of miles to the chippy/ coffee kiosk. Wife isn't keen on walking or cycling miles but sees the health benefits of gentle exercise so is coming round to the idea of a leccy trike for gentle exercise.
I've seen a case of a barely hobbling invalide buggy user switching to a pedal assist leccy trike and the improvements it brought to his walking , took a couple of years.

Just down the rd from me is the eating capital of the world, rd clossed after another accident, anyone wanting to ride a bike here must be bonkers

I have been thinking about them on and off since mistericeman got his, which looked like a decent bit of kit for the money. Maybe a update would be nice if he is still has it and using it regularly
Yup still going strong ....

Several sets of brake pads and 1 new chain later ...

Still great fun on the trails and batteries still holding up pretty well .

I'm considering having it recelled with higher capacity ...
Though in fairness I rarely go over the 30 mile mark in one sitting .

When out cycling the e-bike reminds me of what cycling was like in my teens when Choppers were the must have machine. Those who own one and also had a small wheeled Raleigh Chopper know what I mean. Good in tight spaces and able to turn on a sixpence.

Even more so on a 20” wheeled folding bike as youths in our area think BMX when they see it and shout “cool bike Mr, can I have a ride?”

I suspect Admin will get a lot of that as he poodles about on his new toy.

Bought a small wheel girly bike when i was a kid, detested it as all mates took the p-ss and it was in and out of every hole in the road, i wanted a racer but told no, bike only used a few times and eventuly sold, hip hip horray.

Ah the good old Chopper. One of the worst bikes ever made.Weighed a ton, unstable at speed, and caused many genital injuries due to the strategically placed gear stick. My mates dad worked in design at Raleigh and I got to ride a prototype. Of course I wanted one but my dad had more sense.

I once had a 4 speed sturmy archer....never seen another so must have been quite rare. One Xmas I got a speedometer , driven by the front wheel.....aim was to get it to 40 mph on the slope down to the village. Never see those yellow rain capes now, or sou westers, or the sheepskin gloves and balaclava for the winter school run. Seem to remember having 3 pairs of damart thermal long John's....don't see them nowadays, winters must be warmer now, or we've all got cars with working heaters, the llandrover with one windscreen wiper canvas top and no heater at all was a tad chilllly sometimes.

Yep had a 4 speed stormy, very few about now, if not in gear right the pedals slipped round and you smashed your bo--ocks as you dropped down on the saddle. :(
