Music, Whats your fave

wwell i prefer 50,s rock n roll .sang by just about anybody . have no special group/singer .
wasnt really old enough being born in 55 but as a teenager wore drapes and brothel creepers or winkle pickers . got married in a drape.
all other music is just a noise.
as john millder says in american graffitee .the beach boys f---ed up some real good rock n roll.
i do like toomy roe ,maureen evans, and helen shapiro walking back to happiness . that was one of the first i remember . being at a bonfire night pub fire with dad n mum and their friends all rockers or bikers. . was on the juke box and a local rock n roll band playing as well . at the cecil pub in warmsworth about 61/62. never forgot it .
forget the rest rock n roll never dies .

I have a massively wide taste in music. My first degree was pure music so I guess it's inevitable that I like a lot of classical, but here's a list of some favourites:

Mozart (almost anything)
Haydn Trumpet and Horn Concertos
Schubert
Mendelssohn Violin Concerto
Bruch Violin Concerto
Clarke Trupet Music
Bach Violin music
Dvorak Cello Concerto
and loads more.

In terms of non-classical favourites include:
Kenny Rogers
Queen
Abba
Elvis
Girls School
Celine Dion
Christina Aguillera
Dire Straits
Elton John
Lionel Richie
Simon and Garfunkel (duo and individual!)
Wynton Marsalis

That will do for now - collection of close to 1000 CD's, yet still go through them and think there's nothing I want to listen to.

hi casper.i cant stop my feet tapping at the slightest sound of true rock n roll . i just want to tap my feet tap my fingers, sing and feel the hair stand up on my head. i can listen to them over and over again. still have some cassette tapes i made in 71 almost afraid to play it in case it breaks. been played over and over.
lately been given some daiel o donnel cd,s quite like them .must be getting too old . hee hee
they were free.

There's a piece of software I bought - under £20 called Audacity. Converts anything with a headphone socket output into an mp3 file onto your computer which you can then write to CD, phone, mp3 player etc..... Absolutely brilliant bit of software and keeps those old favourites safe for ever!

come on most of mine is still mono . havent got stereo. still use a dansette record player the size of a shoe box. lp,s stick out over the side. mp3 play on computer . sorry i ,m a computer dunce. hitachi mono tape player built in mic . use in a car with a bulb in line to make it play on 12volt . mind did get posh a few years ago 13 quid in asda cassette radio cd . uses 8 1.5 volt batteries so it can be wired to a ciggy socket works for me. you can record with it as well .

Mainly listen to Trance/Dance music, however I do also love 40/50's rock n roll music, favourite singer for me has to be Meat Loaf, so there you go a varied range of music likes

An almost impossible question given my wide taste in music (with the possible exception of rap) but if I had to choose 8 Desert Island Discs then today they would probably be:

Kyung Wha Chung - Bruch's Violin Concerto in D
Leonard Cohen - Suzanne
The Beatles - Roll Over Beethoven
Roy Bailey - Everything Possible
Miriam Mkeba - Nkosi Sikelele Africa
Dixie Chicks - Goodbye Earl
Mariza - Fado Curvo
Roy Orbison - In Dreams

Mind you, tomorrow it would probably be a different list!

It's Rock, rock, rock all the way for me. Everything from soft to thrash metal. AC/DC to Metallica to Slipknot to Motorhead, Lynyrd Skynyard, Queen, and all the others inbetween!
If it's got a guitar and drums played by actual people (not a computer) and a bloke with a gruff voice belting out a tune then I'm there!
:cool1::banana:

That'd do. Headphone socket out of the posh radio cassette, straight into USB onto computer, it does the rest for you.

Have a trip to the Rhondda - I'll do it for you! lol

I've been using a free version of Audacity for some time. It's good for slicing out bits of tracks and adding fade-ins and fade-outs for use in presentations and so on. You can download it from:

Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder

Just a point from a previous post: Audacity is great software it is also multi platform and free:lol-053:

No one has mentioned any of my fav artists:scared:

Mostly I like female singer songwriters, ones with real talent and their own style, though not necessarily the best singers. Rock music with female vocalists from mid 60's to present.

Elkie Brooks rocking it up with Robert Palmer
Sonja Kristina (Curved Air)
Kate Bush
The Cranberries
Mazy Star
Pat Benatar
Jennifer Warnes
Nico
Amanda Lear
.....and so many more.

No 2 all time fav (was no 1:sad:) would be the American singer/songwriter Melanie. Fav all time has to be Marianne Faithfull. Voted "Q" magazine Icon of the year in 2009 and numerous other awards and just finishing another world tour (2011) Most people only remember her from a fictatious "mars bar and fur rug" incident

Marianne Faithfull Working Class Hero
Ballad of Lucy Jordan
and this

I love music!!

Although I'm nearly 60, I love GaGa, Rumer, and loads of upto date "tunes". Not so keen on Rap but some of it is OK.

Occasionally have a trip down memory lane, Hendrix, Cream, Jethro Tull etc

I remember my music teacher once saying "You can appreciate music, even if you don't like it"

Different times, places, different feelings, etc BUT I'm not stuck in my youth, I've moved on, keeps me so young!!

I like old Skool electros 1 to 13 are the best IMO, also Brazillian jazz jazzfunk soul fusion lovers rock,,
