MTH Refillable gas cylinders

I think the important point is about safe procedure and due care rather than trying to support monopolies.

If you have a safe procedure ie Filling with 12l of gas = 6kg and then checking on scales you have filled with 6kg of gas (ie the pump metre is accurate), that is a safer procedure then having an 80% cut off valve (which could be faulty anyway).

hi techno .calor have had my tank back to check it a few times . whats wrong with a bleed valve . just about all the american tanks used to have them think many still have . been filling mine with no probs . after all in reality its only a bottle lying down . with different fill and exit points . i takle it you arent conversant with calor gas auto gas tanks .nothing ilegal about it or filling it.

My argument is that there is an accepted standard for LPG filling just like there is for electricity regulation and altho NOT law they are regarded by the HSE as the BEST guide and be in no doubt that in the event of trouble the HSE will use those authorities as reference for any prosecutions.
Gasit Alugas gaslow etc etc all meet the set guidelines to meet safety standards. MTH did not and have disappeared?

The HSE website refer to the UKlpg document as their reference which means that despite reports they are currently happy to rely on that
Work instruction for LPG pipework replacement inspection

I can't comment on your tank except to say that you are not filling it calor are

Okay, so we a both coming at this from two points. I accept your point, but also still think the cylinders are within the law (especially when purchased, not that long ago). Certainly, more legal than re-filling Non-refillable. I've heard some stories of people tilting the large cylinders upside down and refilling the small ones using a 'special adaptor'!!!

However as I am not prepared to put anyone at risk, I am withdrawing the cylinders from sale. It was exactly this problem with LPG supplies not letting me fill at garages, why I decided to go down the route of 'gas-it' and an external filler in the side of my van.

Safefill seem to have filled the void left by MTH with a bottle that complies with UKlpg requirements.
I doubt they'll displace Gasit Gaslow etal tho

hi techno .i fill it .i have a tank at home for the house and a vehicle tank fitted to a vehicle .they both have a bleed off valve . .the vehicle tank is an 84 litre tank fitted proffesionally . its very similar to the american rv tanks . i fill it myself . at forcourts . calor can and will fill it at home when they come to fill the big tank . but normally i do it . its designed to be filled at autogas places .
