Mr Clickbait, He’s at it again

That term also really hacks me off as well!

Interesting on the Albania VPN setting. I am a Premium YouTube member so don't see any adverts (except those snuck in as part of the video, of course) but main reason for being Premium is to avoid the adverts, so could be a future option ;)
I hate the in-video content ads for all kinds of crap, and I call them out on it. What really irks me is apart from that, the content is usually very good

Something that I have noticed - and I am not sure if it is automatic or done by the video maker - is when the presenter of the video switches to a sales pitch, the timeline bar has a little white dot on it that signifies the end of the pitch, so it is pretty easy to jump to that point.

That does make it much more bearable, albeit still annoying.
(I think it is done as a concious effort by the video maker, thinking about it, as it seems to be the established channels with a large subscriber base. Maybe they realise that they would lose some viewers if they couldn't skip forwards?)

From the discussion I have not bothered to view the video. However if you forget your code or suspect it is compromised you can regain access using the PUK code written on the label on the Victron case.

I watch YouTube a lot, and possibly to excess, as there is a lot of good stuff on there (y)

But .... because there IS so much on there, I have no time to bother with clickbait thumbnails and will click the "not interested" option for that channel if it is within the list of suggested videos. And if the thumbnail passes the test but the content is clickbait, then the same fate befalls that channel :)
May well miss out on some good stuff, but that is ok as still plenty of others to see :D

I must admit, I watch a lot of YouTube both for education and entertainment. There are some really helpful instructional videos out there which have got me through a problem on many an occasion.

there are also some which bug me from the opening line, those I switch off sharpish.

I have now reported this video.

I don’t mind people trying to promote their videos using exaggerated images, or for short periods promoting a company who are supporting them. Many YouTubers have this as their only source of income, and in the same position I reckon I would do likewise. But lying to create issues that simply don’t exist, and besmirching the reputation of a manufacturer in doing so, crosses a line with me.
I enjoy YouTube, but it’s spoiled by idiots like this.

I only watch Youtube on Brave now to avoid the Ads.

Is that on a phone or laptop Rob? I Don't ever see ads on youtube in Chrome or edge using the "Adguard" extension but I do on my phone. Never found a way round that. I don't generally watch much on my phone though.
I didn't know that Brave (the browser I use most often) blocked ads. AFAICT, there's no way to block the 'in video' ads, but they're the only ads I see when at home because my network DNS server blocks both ads and sites flagged as hosting malware. FWIW, my DNS server is a Raspberry Pi running "Pi Hole" (https://pi-hole.net/) and (much to Trev's delight) it can run on many Linux distros as well as Raspberry Pi to provide ad blocking via block lists for every device on your network!

Now back to the OP -- I noticed several Victron pieces of kit listed in my Victron app while at a festival earlier this year, and made a point of commenting on this to the suspected owners with something like, "Amazing that Victron kit can be accessed from some distance -- I hope the owners haven't left their kit with the default PINs!" However, Victron also recognised the issue and no longer factory set the PIN to "000000", but there's still a lot of older stuff 'out there'!

It certainly seems to block the in video ads. I've yet to see one in any YouTube video I've watched since the install a few weeks ago.

You'll still get ones in the the content from the channel itself, I just zoom on 5 sec per tap on the cursor keys.

The Brave browser I installed for my phone yesterday seemed to stop YouTube ads. I never bothered with my laptop as Adguard sorts them.

When I got my Victron kit last year it already had a pin code on a sticker so I concur they no longer send them out with 000000
