It looks like we are going to be running out of power sometime soon. So I think the best thing to do is get the MH ready. It has central heating, hot water, solar panel and all the other nice bits that the house won't have when the power goes off. It looks like it will be another 10 years before we have any new nuclear power and that's if the NIMBY's don't delay things. We closed all our Coal fired power stations and if the Labour Government hadn't mucked and messed about and got on with a replacement program we would not be in this mess. We are now totally reliant on power from the EU via under sea cables and a few expensive windmills. While we all slept they were building massive new tunnels in London for all the new power lines that are going to be needed as the need for yet more power in the Capital grows. So when the lights go out those of us above the 58 Parallel will be the ones who suffer and those below will be laughing as usual. They will need the power to keep the computers and large office blocks going not forgetting of course all the Government Offices.

Yeeee Gods what a rant ...

When will people know there place? You live outside the m25, nothing exists outside the m25.
They take our water from Dartmoor and our wind and solar energy. People of the North still think it’s only them that the great London is abusing, all the poor are being removed from the poorer areas of London to make way for those who are worth it. The good thing for us is that terrorist will now know that the only target worth hitting is London, so we may be sitting in the dark but at least you’ll be with nice people.

The street lights on our street are LED. We live on a corner and the LEDs light up our garden nicely thank you :)
I am all for 12v house lighting, something I may look into.

you could use 12 volt as the b22 12v corn type bulbs are on ebay but at double the price of 230v ,i changed over two years back at a cost of £80 and saved that over first six mth of use.
you can buy soft or pure white,i have soft in all rooms exept kitchen and bathroom.
i used 9 w in bedrooms and hall ,10w in b/room and 30w in our lounge as its 17f by 11f though we have two side lamps with 3w which we mainly use in evening to relax.
Our kithen is smallish so a 18w give a good white light there,i would not bother about 12v unless you are thinking of using a soler panel and battery, mind you it would be handy if power cuts happen but i have a small genny for that with a swith over unit in lecy box.

Does a 12v Man Cave count. Got a 100w panel facing south. 12v lights outside if someone walks by and a small inverter for some tools. :king:
