Motorway route advice.

Hi, I'll be travelling from Wales on the M4 going to Portsmouth, what's the best route to take? Looking at the map there doesn't appear to be any great difference between taking the A46-A36, A350, A346 or the A34. Are any of these to be avoided, slow, congested ? Thanks

My preference in a large vehicle would be

M4 to Newbury
A34 to Southampton
M27 to Portsmouth
Google Maps

The A36 is scenic but slow, particularly if you get behind a lorry. The 350 and 346 are a bit twisty and the 34 is the fastest but most boring.

That would be the quickest and most relaxed route and the one a professional driver would take.
