motorhomes and dogs

Call yourselves dog owners.:p:p:p

You have to have 6 before you qualify.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I qualify.:D

Over the years we have had er ........ 8 - never more than three at a time unless you count mother, uncle and 7 puppies. That must make the total count 15 unless I am much mistaken:)

I think a little more respect is due here.:)

One of the Whippets ripped herself open this morning while chasing a deer. We had to call out the vet and she asked if we did not mind assisting her with the operation, which we did. So from now on I will be known as Doctor Maingate.

Rolf Harris eat your heart out.

Hope the dog is fine after the op.

We have a 2 year old lab and she loves going away, as soon as the door opens on the motorhome she's in there, even if we're trying to hoover in there when we get back from a trip.

When we first got the motorhome last year we left the dog with Tracey's parents when we went away but now she comes with us every time.

Thanks for the concern Dunk.

Apart from the two wounds, she is very bruised this morning. We think she must have been running flat out and took a tumble. She was also nettled all over. She is perking up and eating so should be fine.

That is three out of the four that have had this sort of injury. In the last five years, we have gone from a rare sight of deer to it being almost a daily occurrence. The other week they saw three separate deer in one morning.

Has anyone got a rifle for sale? It will save me a lot of money in vets bills.:D

We were going to have a few days away in the van this week. That has had to be postponed now.

We are up to three dogs now:

A small Terrier and two rescue Greyhounds

They know when we are getting ready for a trip and get really excited, they are into the van as soon as they can

we have three dogs, one an old boy a labrador, curly coat retriever cross and two mini snauzers. The lab is getting on now at 11 years old and long walks cause him a bit of discomfort.

Try the old lab with cod liver oil and malt available from boots and glucosamine hydrochloride (NOT SULPHATE) plus feverfew - both available from holland and barrett.

We're planning on getting a dog in the summer (long story; hoped to have one by now but we now have to wait until after our trip to europe as it's too late now to get anti-rabies injections and we don't want to put our dog into kennels). The only thing that worries me a bit is safety while travelling. We had a head on crash last year and I wouldn't want to think about what would have happened if we'd had a dog. I'm thinking of a smaller dog for the only reason that it could sit on the passenger's lap and have a seat belt extension. Any ideas?

dogs

we have a staffie of 15 years and she is lovely, wish someone would tell her that she is 15!!! she thinks she is still a pup... any way we have just got a motorhome so its all new for all of us and she comes along with us and loves it.. so recommend a dog, will be lost without her x xx amanda

ill have to try that out bedfordmj,my old labx once did manage to nick 4 ibuprofen tabs and eat them, they had more positive effect than the stuff from the vets.

Won't get results overnight but it did help my last dog. Cod liver oil and malt he loved.

has anyone taken their dog to Europe? if so what are the rules

No problem at all to take a dog to the continent. Normal procedure: Pet pasport, rabies vaccinations etc. (nobody cares overhere)
The way back could be different :(

hi, get the dog chipped ,then two rabies vacine, then blood test if ok off you go .cant come back for 6 months from date of blood test. or wait here 6mths. have dog looked at by vet for health check and worm tick treatment ,cost about 25-30e between 48 -24 hours before catching ferry home. just got back last week from 5 mnth spain -portugal .dog loves living in truck. been taking her since 99 .took her out before the pets scheme started in 2000. never missed a winter away, she speeks french, spanish ,german ,etc. must be easier for dogs as language isnt a problem.make sure you give them heart worm treatment as it isnt often given here, cheers alan.
