My motorhome was due to go into Marquis for some warranty work in May that was cancelled due to them closing due to Covid 19 restrictions. I have now received a call and it is going in on Tuesday for them to.fit a new side skirt and then going to a third party body shop as I noticed some stress cracks that needed some attention.

I also came across a leak inside the motorhome when it rained heavily in Spain, I presume it was getting in from somewhere on the roof and tracking down some cables and dripping on the shelve above our TV. Fortunately the motorhome is kept under a carport at home so the roof as remained dry.

One of the things the receptionist said is we have to turn up at the allocated time, as they only allow one person into the service reception area at a time which is fair enough.

The other thing she mentioned that she said you won't like is the motorhome has to be stripped of all our possessions, it's got to be back to.how it was when we bought it, otherwise there staff cannot work on it, even the outside lockers and garage have to be empty, really looking forward to doing this on Monday, we leave it ready to use, so it's just a case of fill the water tank and put fresh food in and away we go.

I suppose it gives us an excuse to reorganise things when we start to repack it and revaluate whether we really need everything we had in it.

Has anyone else got a motorhome booked in at a motorhome service centre been instructed to do this out of curiosity, they also said they sanitise the van before working on it, I only hope they sanitise it again before we pick it up.

Even if they claim to have sanitised it after the work .You will surely do so anyway !
As you say give an opportunity to re-allocate cupboards/lockers etc
Maybe do new shelf liners etc and only put back what you need and maybe replace old stuff with newer / lighter /non-rattle
we use cheap plastic/rubber mesh on some shelves but that get dirty so a good time to replace.
Have Fun !

My 1 year old Pilote is presently at dealers for its first habitation service and a warranty repair which involves removal of a window and fitting of new interior wall boards, small water leak has stained wall board.
No mention of emptying vehicle, all I have done is remove the bed mattress below window.
4 years ago my then 6 month old Swift had to have major work done back at the factory for severe water ingress damage.
I had to completely empty it, what a job !

My van has been re-booked for its warrantee service and habitation check. They require the van in their storage area two full days before the work starts. Seems fair to me.

No mention of stripping all our belongings out, but I think that's a good idea, and will now do that too.
.

Dave don't forget the virus only survives a few hours outside the body , so as mentioned drive it home wash your hands then leave it for a day before loading it back up . Ps hope you are both well Jeff and Lorraine

This varies greatly from surface to surface.
Stainless steel can harbour Covid for up to 3 days.
Yet copper seems to destroy it in 30 minutes.
Paper 12 hours.
Ventilating the van as much as possible will reduce the viral period.
But I would think 2 days would be sufficient.

Thanks everyone, we are dropping it off on Tuesday afternoon now, although they wanted it in at 8.30am on Wednesday, I told them I'm usually still dreaming that time in a morning, so they said if I ring on Tuesday afternoon, they will give me a time slot to drop it off.

It doesn't go to the body shop until a week later, maybe Marquis will be storing it in there yard for a few days before they start work on it, I've told them to do an habitation check what it is in at the same time. I will definitely wear disposable gloves when I drive it back and then leave it a few days before reloading.

We are well Jeff thanks, enjoying a bit more freedom here although my wife has had me doing jobs at the field, can't wait to get back on holiday. Talking to my Cousin in Spain last night and it seems they have more freedom than us now and you can now go inside bars there, but still have to keep some distance.

I think if I ran a motorhome workshop I'd ask for everything to be removed CV-19 or not. No chance of arguments over things going missing, and no stuff to move and replace to enable work.

This has been a known problem in hospitals for some years now, not just with CV-19, stainless door furniture seemed a good idea at the time, but some are now reverting to high copper content brass

These figures don’t take I go consideration varying degrees throughout the viral period. If you contact any surface soon after it has been infected you are likely to receive a higher doze of the virus. So even though stainless steel can incubate the virus for up to 3days you would receive a smaller doze on the third day than on the first.

Just touching it does not give you a virus, it has to get in your mouth.

I thought that was a given.
Yes you have to touch your mouth or your eyes to complete transmission of virus after touching a contaminated surface.

I took my van for an mot Thursday then drive it back, no chance of leaving it fir days it’s my home. You just need sensible precautions as always. Measures spoken about in this thread are really fit if you are a high risk.
