Hi all

Just bought our first camper - 1998 Autohomes Wayfarer on a Peugeot Boxer 1.9TD chassis with 67,000 miles on the clock.

First trip went OK last week, 250 mile round trip to the Peak District, Sherwood Forest and finally Pateley Bridge before back home to Skipton N.Yorks.

I will gratefully accept any help and info from all out there.
Although I have changed the heater plugs, the van still smokes a little too much at first start up, so she's going to a local diesel specialist for compression, valves, injectors and timing to be checked.

The front suspension is also a little noisey over ruts in the road even though I have changed the drop links. Could not change the 'D' rubbers as I could not work out how to get the upper and lower saddles apart?
So the next port of call will be the shocker top mounts and bearings, also ball joints.

We are on a very steep learning curve but looking forward to the freedom of a van and some happy times ahead.

Hi and welcome to the site. I hope you have many adventures in your van

Welcome - we also have a boxer it's a 2.5D lwb 1995 - spent most of its life in spain (not with us though) just got it a couple of weeks ago, had a few problems but not too big to get over ours has 100k more miles on than your and does not smoke - you are doing the best thing taking it to be checked out, could be just dirty injectors.

The only problem mine has is the cab heater doesn't get even warm - its had a new heater matrix in 30k ago so not sure what it might be.

Nice friendly lot on here, have asked quite a few questions and always helpful - hope i can repay the advice in time.

Our first real adventure is next month, from Cumbria down to Cornwall for a week (on a CC site) then working our way back doing wild camping.

Got the essentials Wild Camping Badge, AA membership etc

Well worth becoming a full member then you can download the POI's etc
