Hi there

can anyone tell me if a tyre size 225/75/16 would fit a hymer B644 04 plate as the ones that are on the back are 215/75/16. would the 10 make a difference as I would like to replace both the back tyres. The reason for this is I cant source 215/75/16 michelin xc camping tyres. Thanks petermotorhome.

I cannot advise on whether the 225s will fit, but they are 10mm wider than the ones you have now. Also, as they are the same 75% aspect ratio, the diameter will be larger which obviously will affect the effective gear ratio. I'd be inclined to check with the manufacturer or a tyre specialist.

Tyretrader.com have Michelin motorhome tyres fitted at a place near you put your post code in £138 .95

Michelin XC Camping tyres have not been manufactured for some time ...... that's good because they were crap off tarmac.

Michelin Agilis Camping are the new ones and are far better than the XC, they are also Mud and Snow rated (handy for Winter touring in Europe).

i have maxmiller gt tyres on mine 215 75 x16 114/116 rated they are m/s seem good grip dry or wet. quiet and were only 75 quid each fitted .
good quality chinese manufacturer . why pay more .

yes they will fit

Thanks for the replies guys I was getting them for £100 buy and fitted with 7mm tread.

they sound 'used' tyres? check the date on the side before having them fitted. People don't often take tyres off at 7mm for no reason! why are these available? they will fit but take care.

We went up from 215/75R16C to 225/75R16C on the Mercedes 614.

As the body is the same as the 814, it has large wheelarches and there is no problem with clearances.

A single step-up in size with no aspect ratio change should be fine.

Possibly someone like us who went for a larger tyre size?

We have some decent 215/75R16C tyres to get rid of.

vehicles get hit by other vehicles and written off . there can be somer real baragains to be had out there . in my village there is a big salvage yard . buty vehicles with 215 75 x16 114/116 tyres just dont seem to be coming in or i would be first in the line . they do have my number to ring and i have been a customer for years .

All the comments about the age of tyres makes me laugh. What did you do before tyres had the manufacturing date code? If the age of tyres was a safety issue, it would be part of the MOT test. As far as I'm aware, no country imposes a limit on the age of tyres.

took my old bald ones off no date letter the new ones did.

first off they will fit, but Michelin XC tyres are atrocious on wet grass and also very noisy on Tarmac ,
I replaced my 5 year old XC tyres that had at least 6mm of tread left because of hairline cracks appearing in the tread pattern, I didn't want a blow out on a 4 tonne MH on a motorway and the bonus with the replacement tyres ( Michelin Agilis) is much better grip, much much quieter and can be used in winter conditions , they have the mountain and snow flake signs on the side plus are uprated load rating of 121 instead of 112.
for the the extra money envolved IMO it's a no brainer, buy the best tyre you can afford!
