Motorhome to Jersey

I always remember Guernsey for 1 night, sat in a pub when a local picked up a guitar and did a solo of Weather with You, honestly it was brilliant.

He then coninued for hours with song after song, interurpted only for a pint every now and then, brilliant player / singer.

Just sat at a corner table and played, no rocking it up, no pretence, no crowd, just him and his guitar. Got the impression that he didn't know anyone was listening, and wouldn't have given a monkeys uncle if they didn't.

Thats what I always loved about our boating and camper van holidays in Ireland in the 80s in my late teens / early twenties. If you turned up at the pub with a guitar over your shoulder you were in the band. There were some superb musicians. Anyone was just welcome to turn up and play on their own or in a session. I even played at Dublin Airport once. :D

This thread has reminded me, it's been 20 years since we were last in CI, have sailed past Herm many times on way to Sark, but never been there. My favourite was always Sark, but it changed after the Barclays effed it up.
Way too much traffic on Sark:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Very relaxing island....
