Motorhome insurance parked on the road side

I'm having to go with my last insurers for the van, all other quotes said no cover abroad at a sensible cost.

On a slight tangent Barry Safeguard were fantastic at providing me with proof of no claims earlier this year.

Previously we both had policies, me on the motorhome with the wife as named driver and vice versa on the car, wife`s policy with me as named driver then we both built up no claims " just in case ".

Now our motorhome is sold and only have a car i took over the car policy so needed proof of no claims from Safeguard to transfer to the new insurer.

I rang Safeguard and got the proof by email whilst i was actually still talking to them on the phone, accepted by the new insurer job done :)

Thanks. I was with Safeguard for years until Hank the Tank 1 reached 20 years old when they stopped insuring vans that age. Always found them pretty good.

I too was with Safeguard until my van got to 20 years old. They'd insure for 3rd party, accidents, fire, and theft but the breakdown and European cover stopped -- which is why I shifted away from them.

Yes. Well whoever they used does. To be fair to AIB when I was under pressure last year when I got the van their agent did a lot of work finding one to suit our needs.
Tried them a few times. Would not insure vehicles parked on the street

Well mine is with then and most definitely insured for road side parking. It took them a while to get there though. AIB are a broker. They find and tailor insurance packages for you so they can use all sorts of underwriters. They dont provide insurance themselves.

Yea I know that Barry . Couple of years ago now but as soon as roadside parking came up that was it
Just renewed with Safeguard , to be honest didn't check anyone else because it's always been a waste of time

I was with Markerstudy, although through AIB, until last August when AIB claimed Markerstudy no longer did motorhome insurance. Now with Jensten, also via AIB. Markerstudy were great -- they'd recorded both my home address and also that of the storage facility where I normally keep the van and were OK with the van being parked in the road near my home for 'reasonable periods' whereas the previous underwriters (Kinetic via Adrian Flux) would not cover the van for theft if not at the storage facility unless we were living in it at the time (so sleeping each night); which meant I couldn't take the van home to load up the day before a trip.
Would the solution not have been to take the van home, load it up, then sleep in it overnight?
