Motorhome hire excess insurance

In two weeks time, I will be hiring a motorhome for the first time for ten days, as a trial for this sort of holiday.
I will have to pay a 'security deposit' of £500 against possible vehicle damage during the holiday. I have made some enquiries about insurance to cover loss of this £500, and the best I can at present do is with Questor who have quoted £70, and this includes my paying the first £100 in the event of a claim. Paying £70 to cover £400 doesn't seem much like good value.
Has anyone else any suggestions?

The only answer is to take the chance yourself, but be ever so careful about checking the vehicle on pick-up, photograph any fault and insist is on the sheet, any damage after that must be yours.

Just to follow up, I took out a policy with Questor, having been reassured there was no excess on the policy. When I read through the policy document, it specifically stated a £100 excess. When I queried it by phone, I was told that I had been given incorrect information, and that no excess was on car hire but motorhomes did have the £100 excess.
Furthermore, the certificate of insurance stated that policies were invalid if the address of the policy holder was within 150 Kms of the point of vehicle hire, unless a 'Near Rental' option was also taken out. I live about 20miles from the pick up point. When discussed with Questor, they confirmed this was the case, and that the 'Near Rental' option was not available to me!
The policy has been cancelled and the money re-imbursed.
Moral of the story-READ THE SMALL PRINT.
