Motorhome Hire Company

Hi,

A friend has asked me if I know of a reliable MH hire company - I don't as we dived straight in and bought ours.

Anyone have any experiences, good or bad, or recommendations I could pass on?

They live in the North East but I guess if there were a company that were especially good they could travel, but I think at this stage it's more of a general inquiry.
I suppose it makes sense to hire a vehicle from the place nearest to the area you want to tour.

If you're looking to travel around Devon, Cornwall or even abroad I would give VanQuest a look. They are at Bideford. I bought one of their ex hire vehicle but they are very helpfull, always help when they can and they are always updating their vans. Not to sound like a commercial but I'm well pleased with them.

I know that Tyne Valley Motorhomes hire vans out.

There is a garage at Swalwell that has always had a few motorhomes and campervans, so I presume they rent them. If you come off the A1 Northbound at the Swalwell slip road, it is the garage you can see to the left. It will be 1st Left at the roundabout.

There is a new motorhome dealer on Sandy Lane, Gosforth and I think they also do hire.

Hmm, my daughter only asked me yesterday about the cost of renting a MH for a week and I had no idea. Does anyone?

If it's in the 6 weeks holidays you'd need deep pockets.

I said something similar, but it's not for the holidays. Maybe I'll look into insuring her to drive mine.

The price can vary a great deal depending on where in the country and when, likewise what type of van you want to hire.

Some companies will have last minute deals to get their fleet on the road. Before buying I used to use Amber Leisure in Luton and they had them from time to time if they vehicle in the yard. I am sure most companies do the same, after all a van sitting in the yard is not earning its keep.

they have vehicles nationally. Never 'cheap' to rent one but certainly cheaper than buying the wrong one,,, try numerous before you buy!

How have you found this works for you? Our MH is more parked than not due to school and work commitments...was thinking of giving it a go.

Davan Motorhomes do hire,and if you decide to buy a van from them after hire they will discount the van you buy by the cost of the hire,I bought my van from them a couple of years ago and recomend them.I did not hire from them though I just traded my previous van to them at the Shepton Show, and had a good deal and service,they are based at Weston Super Mare,I would guess that other dealers offer a similar service too.
