Has anyone used motorhome depot to sell their van ? I am having to sell our van due to my husband’s health, 2005 Autocruise starquest, normal wear and tear and had a repair on bumper, it’s under forty thousand miles and I was thinking of £15000 , it has refillable gas and solar panel. Do you think that price is reasonable? MOT due in March . Any thoughts 🤔 Thanks.

Don't now about your valuation but I sold my motorhome with them. They do all the work for you and if you are happy with the price they assess for it, you could go ahead. It is certainly much easier than doing everything yourself (advertising and dealing with time wasters. I was happy with my dealings with them.

I’ve just had a quick look and they have an 02 on at £16995 . So maybe 15000 is ok , who knows but it needs to go.

We tried to sell through them, far from happy too much commission I felt, we also bought one through them again not happy with how they just take your money and offer very little back up.

We've bought and sold 13 vans all through ebay, no real hassle on any of them and it o ly costs 30 quid for a mo ths classified, no brainer.

I was thinking of less hassle by using motorhome depot, you must be a dab hand at photos and descriptions 😂

I used pictures taken when away, no one knows your van better than you do, I used to look at other van adverts and steal the odd phrase etc in the description and you pretty soon have a decent advert, MDs ads are terrible as they want you to ring them so they can talk you out of your money, mostly retired car salesmen.

If you don't want the hassle of selling yourself it might be a good option. As a buyer though in my long search for my replacement van I gave up contacting Motorhome depot sellers as the agents were useless and knew nothing so if you go that root then provide as much detail as possible from Payload to all the extras and any faults.

Maybe if you posts some pics and details on here we can help more. You never know someone on here might want it.

If you are Facebook savvy you could try Facebook Market place. I sold my last van on there in 24 hours and its free. However if your not then maybe give it a swerve. Its fairly easy to just ignore the morons and only answer genuine enquiries as you can check their FB profiles. Never give anyone your telephone number. Do it all through FB message and just ignore any messages that simply say "Telephone number".

I made use of CCSW who are a member on here. Fortunately they were close to me in Devon. They stored the MH safely and undertook all advertising and viewings. We agreed on a price that I wished to achieve and they did everything else. The sale was very quick and painless, the money was transacted easily. And so I have no hesitation in suggesting them.

I used motorhome depot to market my previous van and was happy with their service, the quality of their ads and the sale price. If you want a "hands off" experience then they could be just what you are looking for. Mind you, they charge a flat fee not a %. A year ago it was £3k so not cheap, but they achieved a good price for the van which made up for it.

Motorhome depot is a franchise arrangement and only as good as the agent for your area. This is why you are seeing opposing views. Trust your gut when you speak with them.
Alternatively is there a Facebook group specifically for your make/model.? This can be successful as there might be someone who wants just what you have. A friend and member on here used Facebook and sold to the 1st person who viewed her camper.
Good luck

My view of that was if they add 3k to the price then that means fewer buyers, also they expect you to drop your price to what offers they get, not their commission m

My auntie tried to sell hers using motorhome depot, it was a similar price as the OP’s but they charged her £3,000 fee
Which then needed to be added to the price, which then made it look too expensive, after 5 months it still hadn’t sold.
In the end, she dropped the price by £3k and sold it within a couple of days using eBay.
Had she just done this in the first place she would have saved herself £3 k

I keep saying this, but folk keep using them.
Stop trying to put the lady off, it is daunting for anyone trying to sell their motorhome no matter which way they try to sell it.. Go back and read the OP carefully and put yourself in their position. Have you ever tried to sell a motorhome to a Dealer? Those rogues want a much bigger margin than 3K.

I think you need to take this into account if you want a quick sale and decide to use a broker like Motorhome Depot. If you think your van is worth say £20k you should tell the broker you want £17k as they will then market it at £20k for their cut, maybe less if you want it gone fast. So if you stick it on yourself somewhere for say £18 or £19k it might be gone pretty quickly anyway. I guess it all depends if you want the hassle of selling it yourself. Realistically in the current market if you sell a van at the right price it should be gone in days or a week tops. If its not sold after a month or two its too expensive.

Although as winter approaches, it may not be the best time of year for selling quickly at a good price.

Also, might be worth considering:

I always wondered if there was a best time to buy or sell. You would think early in the spring would be best to sell but I'm not so sure it makes much difference now. If this is a sub 3500kg small to medium size van in good nick it would be snapped up at any time of year I would think. I could only find three on Autotrader. These are traders though. For a quick sale the OP might have to think about dropping the price a bit perhaps.
