Motorhome cover for storage.

Just put my motorhome into storage for a few months until we go all continental. Is a cover a worthwhile investment to protect the motorhome from the elements and if so what sort, type, make?

Yes. Because of illness I have had my MH under cover for almost nine of the last twelve months. I believe that a good quality cover is essential with "breathable" membranes included.

Mine was made by Specialist Covers (aka Associated Accessories) and was not cheap as it was tailor made to suit my van including the bike rack etc. As the van is parked under my bedroom window I am aware of the various noises emitted in strong winds. I was concerned to hear a creaking sound and thought it might be rubbing the gelcoat of the glass fibre at the corners. Investigation found that no damage was being done, the noise was coming from the cover itself. The cover is now two years old and has suffered no damage apart from a few marks where a local cat sharpened his claws (I'll get him one day!)

Another compnay making good quality covers are Pro-tec a neighbour has one on his trailer caravan. Another down the road has his caravan cover from the same company as mine came from. Both are keen advocates of covers in general and their own in particular.

We have a pro tec and use it at every opportunity. Yes it makes creaking noises, but doesn't chafe, possibly due to multitude of straps and custom fit. It does a great job of keeping muck off especially as we have elderberries and brambles around. Stops the sun fading the cushions and crazing the windows too.

i think they are a waste of money, not to mention time. A bit like garages!

We're on the move most of the time - a cover might not be good for visibility!

Bought one now, off Ebay, second hand with a small tear in it, bit of gaffer tape and jobs a good un, anyway I thought it best to get one to protect what is after all a massive investment of money.
