Our daughrer and her family of four are on an extended trip in their 2006 Chasson Allegro motorhome. The motorhome is performing well and is proving to be ideal for two adults and two children of 5 and 7.

They had a crunch while doing a multi-point turn due to a road closure. The damage is to the near side rear, see photo. My son-in-law said 'I managed to go back and pick up the small pieces of plastic missing in the photo'. So the damage appears to be mix of cracks and holes.

Having driven a metal box (panel van conversion) for the last 15 years I have no experience of repairing 'plastic' bodywork.

Any advice on how / where to get it fixed will be appreciated.

They get beck to England just before Christmas. They are currently in Montenegro, from where they will go to Albania and Greece. A bit of a long shot but if anyone has experience of repairers in these countries they could get it done before they get back home.

Mine has been held together by gaffer tape for some years now and has gone thru a few spanish itv's

Don't really see the point of fixing it to go again but I guess it does not look very pretty.

Someone will be along with a more permanent solution soon I am sure .

First they need to drill a small hole at the end of the crack to stop it spreading then glue the missing pieces into place, then reinforce it from behind with fibre glass matting, once that has set just grind a V into the cracks then fill with white gel coat, when that has set sand to shape, Finnish with fine wet and dry then polish.

I have no shame . I can’t even notice the damage . Good luck

All I can add is use a marine epoxy gell coat filler as it is water proof,

I can highly recommend Zampetas parking and repair centre just outside Thessaloniki near the airport. It’s a good free overnight stop with water, waste disposal and ehu. I had similar damage to my van some years ago and they repaired it in a day and a half for not a lot of money. Nice people, excellent service.
