it is true that 12v TV will be slightly less costly to run but its not a huge saving.
I didn't make mention of cost saving, just what is the likely way to be most efficient. TVs are relatively low energy consumers (exception made for giant plasmas) Providing you don't spend an exorbitant amount extra, then !2v direct is preferable. Any power saving is worthwhile when wild camping.
wasn't being critical Byronic , quite the reverse actually.
You say you are not interested in saving running costs at the beginning of your sentence then at the end you say 'any power saving is worthwhile when wild camping '? mmmm
TV's are certainly not 'relatively low energy consumer' appliances when they are run off a car
battery.!
Have you worked out how long your fully charged
battery will actually run a 12v TV before there is insufficient charge left in the
battery to run the tv ? I think you will be surprised. Even with a voltage regulated supply you'll probably only need to lose 1.5v for the tv not to work and thats without a single light or running the pump for tap water ot cassette toilet or water heater etc.
