Morrisons ( REFUSE TO FILL LPG)

Would that mean that a member of staff would have to inspect the installation each time Steve?
I can't see any reference in the MFG reply, although Charlie at Autogas has told his staff to open the lockers to check, so I may be confusing 2 separate comments, Rob

So could be due to poor standard of Chinese manufactured conversion valve and filling non fillable bottles. MFG is supposedly a different company to Morrisons and Calor don't allow, in their contract. for the bottle to be refilled but people do. See below statement

Morrisons (specifically through the Motor Fuel Group, or MFG, which now operates its forecourts) has implemented a, generally nationwide, policy prohibiting the refilling of portable LPG bottles at their pumps. This restriction is driven by safety, legal, and insurance concerns following reports of incidents, such as fires caused by improper use of adapters on non-refillable bottles.
Key Reasons for the Refusal
  • Safety and Insurance Concerns: The primary reason is a ban on filling any vessel that is not a permanently fixed tank on a road vehicle, often termed an "insurance issue" regarding the risks associated with loose bottles.
  • Misuse of Adapters: Some users were utilizing dangerous, unofficial adapters to refill standard (non-refillable) Calor gas bottles, posing a major risk of overfilling and fire.
  • Difficulty Identifying Bottles: Because staff cannot easily distinguish between safe, refillable bottles (like "Safefill") and dangerous ones from across the forecourt, the policy often bans all portable bottles.
  • MFG Takeover: Following the sale of Morrisons' forecourts to the Motor Fuel Group, new, stricter operating procedures were introduced.
  • Upcoming Pump Removals: In some locations, these LPG pumps are being phased out entirely.
Scope of the Ban
The ban applies to standard bottles and, at many sites, even specifically designed refillable bottles (e.g., Safefill). While some sites may still permit filling permanently mounted, certified underslung tanks on motorhomes, this is inconsistent and depends on individual staff interpretation.

All new ish gear.
We need our own app for LPG

Where you stopping in Edinburgh?
Nah, Queensferry, just passing through and wanted a top up, we tested the Abingdon services lpg pump too, all good.

It takes a bit of effort but it's out there when you need it so long ad you're not stupid enough to let it run out, unless you have a Calor backup.
