Modified sine wave inverter

Have been give a 300w modified sine wave inverter, will this run a microwave or kettle or toaster and if so can i run it from 12v plug in the van or will it have to go straight across the battery?

300w isn't big enough for those items it could be used for tv and it may work on phone charging, torches etc
