Information please ??
We have purchased a 4 mph mobility scooter and would like to know what you do about insurance, did think about adding it to the car insurance but then what do do when it's in the van and also going onto the continent???
Thank you in advance for any relevant suggestions and information.

I’ll get my list out in the morning there are a few that come recommended when you purchase a scooter price will vary between £60 to £100 and what’s covered varies too so I’ll post later when I can search out my paperwork.

This s the list I got when I bought one of mine but you will have to see which one is tailored to suit your needs.
hope this helps

I have never bothered insuring mine, as a pavement/travel scooter it’s not a legal requirement. As it breaks down into 5 parts it’s easy enough to recover if it breaks down. It’s not an expensive one though

My insurance is not about breaking down as like you I can transport them myself they are insured for theft and third party liability I also carry a bicycle lock if I do have to leave it outside a shop I chain it to something solid.

Many Many thanks for all the information 👍👍will now start the sorting out as to what is required and contact the names on the list.
Will let you know how I get on 🤔🤔
Once again a very big thank you.
just as a side note lots of your standard insurance companies also do insurance like Adrian Flux does mobility scooter insurance and do check your house insurance it’s sometimes cheaper as an add on as long as it covers your requirements.

But isn't that taking a big risk against getting a third party claim if you should have a accident
I hardly use it and it only goes at walking pace. I assessed the risk and decided I didn’t need to pay out any more. How many folk on the road on pushbikes have third party insurance and they are much more likely to hurt others than me? Most people insure to cover against loss in any case

My home contents insurance covers Class 1 and Class 2 mobility scooters for theft and 3rd Party Claims. Make sure you are not trying to insure something that is already covered.

We use Blue Badge Insurance for ours, about £40 a year.

Check your small print as mine was only covered if it was stolen or damaged in or on the property was not covered if stolen while travelling until I put on as a specified extra.
