I guess councils have these "rules" to prevent a repetition of the "Dale Farm" Scenario.
In many respects they are correct in "protecting" the nearby residents/landowners.
It might seem harsh but.......
I visited a Nursery which had
1 a very large modern house.
2 some really scruffy "permanent " caravans
3 at least 1 temporary resident
It was listed as a nursery and a camping site
No real sign of either of these....WE LEFT[/QUOTE
no offence but if you dont like the place then do what you did and go somewhere else, that doesnt mean someone else might not be happy to stay there. Im not advocating allowing the dale farm scenario to go unchecked, but some places are a bit run down because people cant afford to improve it, or the nay sayers wont allow them to, that doesnt mean the people arent nice or wouldnt improve it if they could. In my case my bit of land is down a private gated track, out of site and with no neighbours to upset, what i do there has absolutely no impact on anyone else whatsoever, so why shouldnt i be allowed to stay on it, in my own van, totally off grid, not even a water supply or electric, i dont want to build on it or fill it with pikeys, just keep some chickens, grow food, plant an orchard, dig a pond and generally look after the land, isnt that better than it being an overgrown unmaintained patch with all the appeal of your average roadside verge? If i could afford it id buy a farm but i cant, so this is the next best thing, and i dont see why its right that some fool who knows nothing about me can say i cant for no good reason other than just because they want to say no. The same idiots are the reason theres so many places like you went to, because they wont allow you to do it properly. No wonder theres a housing shortage and people are being forced to pay extortionate rent to live in some shithole you wouldnt keep pigs in, and if you dont work theyll even pay for you to live there, its a right pisstake, and those of us that do work are footing the bill for it!
Sorry for the rant and please dont take offence but it proper winds me up, ive been technically homeless for ten years, never claimed a penny off anyone and some fool can dictate to me what i can and cant do with my own land that ive saved for years to buy, but i can go be a workshy layabout and theyll pay my rent, council tax, and give me £60 a week for nowt, what a crock of ****
