MH problem.

The ignition lights come on then start flickering and there is a rapid ticking sound.
This ticking sound usually indicates one of five things:
a dead battery,
loose wiring,
faulty starter motor,
faulty ignition switch
corroded battery terminals

a) Take a voltage reading on the starter battery
b) Try a jump start (you can remove a leisure battery and use that)

Let us know what happens.

Good luck

After freezing my nuts off, getting soaked, skinning my knuckles to the bone and upsetting the neighbours carer when I screamed you effing barsteward (to which I apologised profusely) and assured it wasn't her I was screaming at, I have decided I am no more a mechanic than I am a brain surgeon or a hair dresser!
I now have a mobile mechanic coming on Tuesday. From what I have described and what I have tested he thinks it is more likely to be the starter motor.

Thank you one and all for your input and advice.

Happy New Year.

Sorry big Bazz 😁😜 if Rals a prick then your a sausage a big ONE.

I think in the long term Ral it would be a good idea to either buy a multimeter or if you already have one lean how to use it in these circumstances

HERE

This would have bought you to the issue quickly and painlessly, I don’t know if your Van stands on EHU when not in use, but even if it does that doesn’t always keep the starter battery topped up, again you can check this with a multimeter.

If you can borrow/buy a good conditioning charger and get it on the battery (if it doesn’t charge from EHU) you may still avoid the need for a mechanic.

There is also some good stuff on youtube on battery testing using multimeter.

To complicated for a man in a mankiny, this is simple, bit like him.

Been fannying around most of the day with the mh, mate brought a battery round and mh still dead. He didn't like the look of some of the wiring but nothing he said make much sense to me. Oh well.
