another thing to try is neat FAIRY LIQUID ideal for removing most tape glues
Thanks again for the kind suggestions, decided to use the white spirits and it did make the job a little easier.
Must admit I made mistakes, 1.. Left it on too long2. used a cheap masking tape (very sticky) 3. Doubled it up
and 4. Allowed too much paint to cover the tape
.
When you consider I had 2 @ 16 foot lengths to remove without damaging the paintwork, I had my work cut out

I find that the anglegrinder and 40 grit disc usually does the job.
