Me! I was there in the visitor carpark all day Sunday:D, and I had my new yellow sticker on the back of the van and no one came up to chat  Parked not too far from the red Ferrari.

I expected to see Murvi exhibiting, a bit disappointed they were absent.

Considering the vast numbers of M/Homers camping at the showground (what was the cost?) there were not many vans touring or wildcamping in and around the Malvern hills.

I saw lots of possible places, even checked out the Pheasant Inn, didn't stay found much more secluded places. Saturday near the waterspout off Wyche road and Sunday in the churchyard in Colwall :D

Stopped for chips in Upton on Sun evening and they had sold out of chicken and curry sauce:eek: said there had been a run on because of the show! Found a nice Cantonese take-away with ample M/H parking in Malvern Link

What? I missed free drinks and a meal:eek:

I can't believe there are 7,500 members here and I never saw one wilding around the hills unbelievable:confused:

On the way home I checked out the Lydney Harbour wildspot and liked it. I would definitely use that one next time I'm in the Forest of Dean. Some of the trees are overhanging the access road, maybe a problem with tall C/built types.

Unfortunately back to work today:rolleyes:

Only called in at the harbor spot yesterday to have a look around. Could not get into the proper level parking area because of renovation work and the road was temporary blocked.

Talking of Forest of Dean do you know if it is possible to stay overnight at the Mallards Pike Reach carpark?

I used to stay at a place near Upper Soudley a sort of mini forest drive with a big pond but it seems to have disappeared:eek:

Mallards Pike (and the other Forest car parks) can be patrolled by wardens during the summer months and I'm fairly certain there is a barrier at the car park entrance which is locked at 9pm(?). I'll take a closer look on my next visit.

Instead you could try Lydney Harbour and if the lane is blocked by overhanging trees then there's a large flat tarmac parking area just before the harbour lane beside a disused industrial building where there would be no access difficulties at all and you shouldn't be disturbed.

That's the place we were discussing further up. Agree plenty of parking on the run up to the harbour, but the view is not as nice, unless you like industrial decay and desolation:D

The trouble with the forest carparks is they keep closing then down:mad: There was a brilliant spot just of the main road at Edge End that's gone.

The Soudley one I mentioned earlier by the big pond that has no access now not even to the pond carpark. The gravel road up to the top of the hill was great, I know it was locked at night (boy racer rally drivers:mad:)

The Forest is becoming camper-unfriendly which is such a pity (this is also close to my thug-episode..) and both entrances to Soudley Ponds are now gated. There are still a few spots - eg. I've seen vans parked close to the entrance of Clearwell Caves and the large parking area at Tydenham.

Even here in Ross-on-Wye (not far from the Forest) the car parks almost exclusively have height barriers but it's still common to see vans road-parked overnight. The boy-racers have a lot to answer for in spoiling things for so many others.

.

just got back... loads of day parking sites and
loads of opportunities te scratch yer van too
never tried to overnight so can't comment...
but some months ago i did put up a fred showing a pub on the river
where overnight-ing is OK by the landlady.. loads of space.

Generally.. I like the place for a day out…
loads of pull-ins and some great walks through the forests

Hi Ajs

We were there Sat- Mon. First time we have done this show and thought it was very well organised, must admit expected pandemonium on Monday Morning as we tried to leave but were pleasantly surprised - no hold up at all. Bumped into several couples who we've met before on our travels in Europe. Small World....:)

We were there, we intended to do a bit of wildcamping after having staying at the MCC rally at the Bristol boat & balloon festival for ten days. In the end we stayed on a pub CL for 3 pound a night about 10 miles from Malvern.
We got in early on the Thursday & stayed until the traffic had cleared on the Monday with the Motorhome Fun group. There seemed to be more of the stalls selling accesories this year, spent most of the weekend meeting up with friends we made during our travels & making new friends. Weather couldn't have been better.

Hi AJS
Is it really our 1st post? We've been lurking in the background since August 2008, so not the ones you spoke to I'm afraid.
