well, I've made a start today on my "Things to get for our France trip" list today.

Ordered my Aires book from vicarious books
got my high viz vests
got my warning triangle
got my beam deflectors
got my road atlas
bought a cheap little phrase book, (i'll give it a go as long as noone laughs at me, lol)

had a little look around at breakdown cover but didn't realise how expensive it was! My insurance is due in May so I thnk i'll see if I can get a deal with that on my renewal?

Still plenty to organsie but It's a start, makes it feel a little more real :scared:

Hi Lotty

You sound like you are very organised .....I wouldnt even have a clue about how to plan a trip over to France, didnt even know what 'Aires' was until yesterday:lol-053: durrrrrrrr !!! . We wont problably be able to plan a trip for another two years at until we have a newer van/motorhome. For me the biggest obstacle is the Eurotunnel, I dont know what it is but I have palpatations just thinking about it:scared: !!!

I hope you have a wonderful time on your adventures on I cant wait to hear all about it when you return.

Jac

Just rub it in why dont you, oh i'm gutted i cant go, dont forget your breathaliser kit you need on board too :cool1:

Dont think you need them just yet Kimbo:

(Copied from another site)
From the latest issue of the Caravan Club magazine (March 2012 page 42), received today:

Recent report have suggested that it is now a legal requirement to carry a breathalyser in your vehicle while travelling in France. However, the legal department of the ACF (Automobile Club de France) has confirmed that the law has not changed and this requirement is currently only a proposal.

If the law were to change, the ACF is unable to confirm whether it would be applicable to visiting motorists or just French residents. However, if you would like to buy a disposable breathalyser, they are available from most French pharmacies for about 1 euro.

cheers

a little reminder.the only times i've found myself on the wrong side of the road is when i've crossed the road to get to a petrol station, feels very natural,if no traffic, to pull out and continue on the lh side, especially at night or when you're tired.

If you have a co-driver/navigator, ask them to ALWAYS tell you to keep right when you start driving. It just helps to remind you and it makes a difference.

Failing that, put a label on the centre of the steering wheel saying KEEP RIGHT ...

The other way is to remind yourself when driving over in Europe to keep your bum (ass) in the gutter.

I think ADAC are the best for breakdown Europewide incl UK, Lotty.

thanks, Ive had a quick look on google for them as i had never heard of them.
It seems they are German, have I got the right company?
It says on the website that they do not support a international home addresses and you have to phone them in Germany to take out cover if you are outside Germany.
Has anyone any experience of them and how to join?
Thanks
