Just wondered if anyone has used LV insurance for their motorhome only the quotes from several brokers are coming in at very low rates IE: £100 less than Comfort with the same cover. Is there a catch?
Dave

Just an update i decided against LV and went with Safeguard who bettered the lowest price i could find which was £242 and covered me for £240 with full European breakdown and legal cover and unlimited mileage. resulting in a £100 saving on comfort's renewal price Result!

Mines due. I'll give them a try. Is the breakdown cover just on your van or does it cover all your vehicles if you are in them?

No just the van, but don't take the first price they give you as the final price just tell them you had a better quote. They knocked over £150 off there first price

I'm with LV (Highway, lots of brokers use them) and for me they were the cheapest, no breakdown cover as I need cover for any vehicle I am in, no point paying for two policies when RAC through C&CC covers me in car or motorhome. I shop around every year and seem to alternate between Highway at LV and Scenic (part of Swinton/Safeguard) who also give cover without breakdown cover.

we just had the lv renewal on the house insurance in the post.... lets just say i didnt waste time trying to get a lower quote, wouldnt have saved enough to pay for my time.

Hi Dr Dave,
I'm with Safeguard too. European breakdown, legal protection etc.. etc. but I pay a lot more than than the figure you've mentioned. May I ask what van you have and if you park on/off road?
Cheers,
Pat

Yes its a Coachbuilt 59 reg and its parked off road behind a locked gate. After ringing many many companies and brokers today i really do not understand how premiums are worked out as if you tell them about other quotes (and i was honest) the prices quoted come down, even being members of a club can reduce premiums by a significant amount however after chatting to the reps it appears your postcode is the most critical element. As i stated above LV was by far the cheapest one broker even offered to reduce the premium by £50 if i took out the policy within the hour! and Safeguard matched that quote. How much was your premium?
Dave
