LPG refusal.

I was refused at the "Jumbo" fuel station at Lagoa on the Algarve just recently. A shame because the gas was really cheap there.

JUMBO LAGOA - Real time petrol prices

My filler point is external, on the skirt but the attendant came out and asked (in perfect English) whether the gas was for vehicle propulsion or filling bottles. The fact that I'd just filled up with diesel at the adjacent pump sort of gave the game away so I was quite honest and replied that it was for bottles, adding that they are designed to be refilled and incorporate a safety valve. She was very polite and apologetic but made it clear that she could not sell me gas for that purpose.

Oh well, next stop a Repsol station in Portimao where they had no such qualms. I do wonder whether the stations that do refuse have had problems with people trying to refill standard bottles.

I had a problem filling my car at the Shell garage in Halesowen just before Christmas. The pump just didn't seem to want to lock on properly. A nice man tried for me but he couldn't make it work either. Luckily the hose from the other side reached and that locked on properly, so I was able to fill up.
Would have been very annoyed if I'd had to run on petrol to the next nearest supplier.

Like many others here I have had problems filling with LPG pumps, mostly it just needed them to switch on the pump, sometimes you have to hold down the button for ages, sometimes the gun wouldn't connect. Before I had my gaslow system I call in at Calor Supplier, (Mortimer just outside Reading), I spoke to them about Gaslow, and they said no one at any Calor Supplier would let a MH fill up there, it was not allowed. However I haven't been refused at any Calor or FlowGas depot when in the MH to date.

I did purchase for my previous MH but never fitted it, an LPG gas injection kit. It's like the HHO kits, just adds a bit of gas into the engine air intake system. So if I fitted that I could say that I'm filling it for propulsion, it would run from the standard Gaslow Bottle, an R67, that has now been classified as an upright cylinder. https://www.gaslowdirect.com/epages...=/Shops/cyujrhdmmu67/Categories/R67_Statement

I have always opened the bottle compartment as my fill point is by the bottles, perhaps I should move it to the skirt, I preferred it hidden as it gives away the fact that you have expensive bottles fitted.:confused:
