Check the Morrisons thread . 9 in Scotland
If in Edinburgh area go to Shell garage at Fisherrow harbour , Musselburgh

If up the west coast it’s available in the industrial estate heading north out of Ullapool.

The Auld Brig filling station near Stirling has lpg, and no problems for motorhomes filling up. the pump is at the side of the building, so plenty of space.

We are planning a trip to Orkney and Shetland a bit later in the year - does anyone have an update on LPG there? The fillLPG app shows 2 stations on Shetland Mainland but one is a very old update with no price and the other "temporarily" out - but has been that way for months.

If there's only two, why not give them a call. Nothing to lose and will remove any doubt.

We were on Orkney summer 2019 and the Lpg stations had stopped supplying due to falling demand.

A lot has happened since 2019.

My perception is probably completely incorrect, but more vanners seem to have been converting to refillable LPG over last couple of years?

The pandemic really pushed up the level of "staycationing" in campers, so putting the two together it is possible that demand for LPG has now gone up rather than down?

The apps are all showing user data. If people don't report prices and availability, it won't show in the apps.
The thing to do is to report what you find when you find it.
If a stations is showing as unavailable, that tends to put people off going, so they don't know and report when it is back.
In general, the prices in the north of Scotland are high. This is not just the delivery distance, but I guess it's mostly the fact that a lot of places rely on bottled gas, and the suppliers don't want to undercut their margins by offering lpg "on tap".

The decline in LPG availability is for two main reasons.
The first being that towards the end of the last century car manufacturers stopped making cars with LPG engines. Instead they designed petrol and Diesel engines that were more frugal. This meant the the lack of demand for LPG made its sale unviable for some garages.
The second being the recent changes required due to safety that garages had to meet in order to continue sales of LPG.
Motorhomes don’t use enough LPG to make any significant difference.
