Lookiing for a new Telly

That looks good value to me, although I couldn't find a DVD mentioned in the spec. I bought an Avtex 185DRS last year at £399 (now £349!) and it does much the same. Fabulous picture though, and it has a few more bells and whistles if you think they are useful:

Any std voltage from 12 -240
Easyfind satellite software built in
Built in FM transmitter so you can enjoy hifi sound from the motorhome stereo
Records TV to a chip or hard drive
View all your still pics/videos via the HDMI socket
Etc..etc..
Regards
John

Have a look at 12v Televisions - acdctv bin the DVD part and save money, I use a portable hard disc with a laptop drive in it, powers from the TVs usb slot, or consider a solid state drive instead of the hard drive for better power saving.

i also use software to rip my DVDs to AVI files, I can put over 600 movies on a 500gb drive. Cheaper option is to get some 16gb memory sticks, 20 movies per stick, saves weight, power and space.

also do you need HD, my eyes as I get older are definitely not HD and on such a small screen I don't think it makes a great difference personally.

I have the same train of thought as siimplyloco its the freesat built in thats the clincher i dont tend to watch dvds at all and would rather not have a dvd built in. I am amazed how many good deals everyone has found many thanks and keep them coming john

I bought one of these from DirectTVs in Huddersfield for £119 although it does not come with the 12 volt power lead but you can buy this for £20 from ACDCTV so a total cost of £139 all in - a decent saving on any of the packages you can buy. Great TV / DVD but check the overall dimensions as they are not quite as small as shown in the photos - nor quite as slim as described as they have a section at the rear which protrudes past the stated 43mm thickness.

Good value again, but I didn't see a Freesat facilty on this one. That really is the clincher for me!

FreeSAT?

They are all FreeVIEWnowadays,FreeSAT is an entirely different thing, needs a dish, not an aerial. Maybe I am falling behind with the technology though???

Anybody?

Not at all. The Avtex 185DRS requires a satellite dish to be connected, but it does not require a Sky box or other decoder to be connected. The decoder is built in and receives UK Freesat channels along with lots of other European ones: if your German is ok that is.......

The kogan tv is SECAM compatible so will work in France.

It says Freesat in the listing and that a dish is required to receive it.

Just wondering if anyone has one of these or similar thinking that if its all in one should be more power efficient i like the idea of the freesat being built in there are only two reviews on argos one good one bad not much help i would welcome any thoughts

Hello

Don't do it.They are rubbish.

I bought one about 6 months ago from AC/DC. Like many people I was attracted by the built in sat receiver. Straight out the box it looks and feels cheap and nasty. There is no manual in the box. You have to download and print one off. The receiver is very slow. Each command on the really cheap and nasty remote would need 3 or 4 jabs.I could not get the record function to work. I soon got sick of it and stuck it on Ebay and went back to an Akura 19" TV (excellent TV used to be sold by AC/DC) and the latest Maxveiw receiver. Both are brilliant. I have a Camos crank up dish and can usually tune it in quicker than an automatic. The maxveiw receiver is so responsive I don't need to use a sat finder. You can mount it inside a cupboard and just have the infra red eye hanging down. It also has a record function that works.
IMHO the Cello TV is assembled here in the UK using the cheapest components on the market.
Do yourself a favour and don't buy one. Being one of the freeloaders I don't do many posts just thought I would do you a favour.

Agreed. You get what you pay for. The Avtex was expensive, and I'm a skinflint, but it appears to be worth the money.
