Liverpool

I have seen motorhomes parked & tents camping over the water in New Brighton. On the front put these GPS co-ords in Google Maps to see where 53.43718, -3.06450 . Not stayed here myself but from the number of tents & gear they had it looked as if they were there for the weekend. This only on the other side of the Mersey from Liverpool, not sure of any safe quiet places actually in Liverpool.

how do those coordinates work without the n.s.e or w ?
i have put in coordinates with just numbers & the point was in the middle of the sea.

If you open Google Maps Google Maps & copy & paste the co-ords shown in bold in they should work. Or if you want N 53.43718, W 3.06450

Anytime you want to convert to any other type of co-ords such as degs - min - sec you can use the cordinate converter at Co-ordinate converter - OSGB36 to WGS84 - WGS-84 to OSGB - NAC - nearby.org.uk

BTW the are is just the sea front at New Brighton, I have seen vans parked all the way along that area at different times.

Hi Tony

Open Google on your computer, click maps, then paste or type the coordinates exactly as shown - 53.43718, -3.06450 - into the Search Maps box.

(A positive value for latitude is North; a negative value for longitude is West; a positive value for longitude is East.)

Click on Search Maps or press Enter.

Job done ...

Just put the co ordinates in Google and it came back Kings Parade, Wirral, trying to get directions now. I take it will be on the sea front? Thanks for that Chris.

It comes out as Kings Parade Wirral, when you say tents, it looks as if it is not the front?
Thanks Ed.

To get to Kings parade follow the brown signs off Junction 1 M53,bear left at the rounsabout by B&Q. when on the parade park up nearest the motorway and yatcht club where the fishermen are. It is accepted that the sea anglers park up their vehicles for night fishing, some have motorhomes.

It was only meant to be in the general area around there, I have seen tents camnped on the grassed areas between Kings Parade & Coastal Drive. As Sasquatch says it is a popular place for anglers, I would think it would be quieter towards the west end which is a dead end road.

I always thought of carrying a fishing rod & then I wouldn't be overnight camping I would just be night fishing . Could just get a cheap rod & leave it propped against the side of the van, if the local plod comes along I would just say I was taking a break before a long nights fishing :D suppose it would only work when parked next to water (have to make sure you don't need a license though)

I'm led to believe that you only require a licence for coarse fishing and sea fishing doesn't require a licence.

I was thinking about being able to overnight camping near rivers, lakes, canals etc., not being a fisherman I don't know but suspect that you need a licence (nothings for free)

If you want to visit Liverpool City Centre the best place is the car park opposite Liverpool Yacht Club on Coburg Wharf, 53.23.25, 2.59.10.
The area is surrounded by waterside flats whose occupants won't tolerate yobbo's so it's pretty safe. It's about a 25 minute walk into the city centre along the waterfront through Albert Dock and there's a 4 per hour bus service.

i'm getting good! after a struggle & some strong words i finally got to transfer the coordinates from computer to my garmin 205.
however its a different story when i try to transfer irish coordinates , when i click on send im not getting gps only email & phone.
any bright spark got any ideas please ?

At the moment we are parked on the front in Wallasey, just by the lifeguard box, a little traffic but OK, we went for a walk along the prom, there is a nice carpark by the Harvester but they have put a height barrier there. Spoil Sports!!!

enjoy your stay.
hope the liveguards wont be called out to rescue you.

I have parked up at New Brighton several times no probs. A lovely cycle ride along the waterfront from there then take the ferry cross the mersey into Liverpool. Great view of the Liver Building (Sadly not open to the public)
At other times have taken advantage of the free unrestricted street parking around the huge Anglican Cathedral - well worth the £4 to go up the tower on a nice day for another fabulous view. (The tall thin tower in the city centre is rarely open to the public, and then is more expensive) If you are prepared for the inconvenience of parking up and going into a city Liverpool has a lot to offer. Maritime Museum, St Georges Hall, Walker Art Gallery all well worth seeing if you've time.

We were parked on Kings Parade without knowing it at first, had no trouble during the night, a couple of wagons were parked there and started off early but we are early risers anyway.
