Life of a Leisure Battery?

Hi,
We're wondering what the average length of life there should be in a leisure battery. Ours is about 3 years old. At first we got 3 to 4 days of charge from it without moving the van, but these days we seem to be down to one day only. It runs the fridge, the water pump and the inside lighting. Should we be getting more from it or is it reaching the end of its life?

Sorry can't help but the Life of Riley lasts a long time !:banana:

5 years for mine

Not a technical answer; just my experience:
Just replaced my 2 X 110 ah Numax leisure batteries after 5 years of service. They were still doing fine for the summertime using solar recharging with a similar use as you detailed (fridge, pump, lights, electronics charging etc (no TV)).
They were beginning to show fully charged from solar too early in the morning so I knew they were not absorbing the charge well enough to get through Autumn sunlight charging.
The batteries still have a lot of life left in them for other uses around the home but for motorhome wilding they were definitely past their best.
I guess without solar charging they would have to have been replaced much sooner because batteries without solar will be worked to lower voltages before recharging begins again.

With regards your battery (single?); if it has been running a compressor fridge on its own you have done well for it to last so long. Taking a battery too low in voltage before a recharge shortens its life and a fridge requires a lot of power.

I think the comment above hits the nail on the head. If you have been running a 12V Compressor fridge for 3-4 days on a regular basis using the battery alone, the chances are it has been drained below (and likely well below) the recommended level, and this will have impacted its ability to recharge and its useful life.
If you replace it, the same will happen again TBH. You cannot rely on the fridges "low voltage" cutoff either, as that cutoff, if it has one, will be way lower then the time you should be turning off stuff due to low battery voltage.

My battery died at 3 years after an easy life .yours had a much harder life I would say it is dying . replacement of a battery is a good time to consider fitting twin batterys or a larger battery ? Next is to decide which battery to buy .check the NCC leisure batterys web site , very helpful to decide what to buy .

Batteries

Don't know if it helps you, but if you look in my for sale ad @clear out@, I have two batteries that seem OK one a 110amp and one a 100amp. They are £15 each, they are too good to scrap. Just replaced mine that is the reason for sale.
