Coming up this Thursday for £7.99, just two spanners which will cover nuts from 10mm to 24mm. It's got to be easier carrying two smiles (+ possibly two smaller ones) than a whole set.

excellent test meter too, with the all important continuity tester for checking bulbs, fuses, wiring, fridge elements etc ! if you don't have a meter, this is the one for you !

had some similar for years ,can be handy .but usually not enough room around the nut or bolt to use them .
tried allsorts you really do need open and ring and combination spanners . all have their place . plus in some cases angle changed spanners . angle of the open bit . or another is flare nut spanners for brake pipes or fuel lines .never mind obstruction spanners shaped in a c or an s .

Lidl spanners

I have had 2 the same size for 20 years they just take up space a waste of money and space use proper spanners or a good adjustable.

I have to agree i'm afraid, they're almost useless. there's a whole industry out there making 'clever' tools that do more than one job,and they generally don't do anything all that well. but the meter looks like a good buy !

somthing you didnt know you realy needed ... bought loads of that stuff never seen the light of day again  stan

I bought something similar at a show years ago,and found their use was very limited. They were sold with the statement that the 'Lifeboat mechanics use them use them'. I took my prized possessions back home and mentioned this fact to my father, who thought it was a great joke,"see Fred, he said",Fred was a pal of his who was a retired R.N.L.I Travelling mechanic. Fred said,"never seen them, totally useless for the majority of nuts on ANY mechanical set up"-nice idea shame about the practicality!

I had a similar tool a while back. They tend to round off nuts if you are not careful. Also, bulky nature does not suit a lot of automotive applications where clearances are tight.

I think these would be best suited to general assembly of angles and rough timber woodworking projects where there is plenty of access... as shown in the illustration.

Engine fittings are often recessed or have multiple obstructions guarding access. I like to get a ring spanner or socket on the nut if possible as less likely to damage the nut.

You cannot beat a decent set of tools. Whats the point of a cheap spanner that will not fit a nut properly or the sockets that fit at every angle. You just round the nuts off. Right tool for the job :shag: :lol-061:

sockets well another mine field .1/4 1/2 3/8 3/4 inch sets . short, long, swivel . i did run a garage .so had them all.
more screw drivers than most . tools are like really important.
sharp chisels . nice hammers .
what you need is a truck . ha ha .

Agree with you. The illustration shows typical intended useage. For a vehicle any tool in contact with high tensile steel bolt heads and nuts (fasteners) needs to be made from chrome molybdenum or chrome vanadium steel.

I love Lidl...it's the only shop I know that stocks fresh milk, bread, peas a hedge trimmer and a scubba diving suit...:lol-053:

Tried two local branches of Lidl, none of which had them, they're not even listed in the shop catalogue so they must only be in certain stores. Couldn't find the exact ones anywhere else but did find these and promptly ordered them. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-li...36&sr=8-2&keywords=multi+wrench&condition=new

I did see them for sale on friday but was not tempted as I already have one of these

which has a greater hook to grip the nut and was invaluable in getting undone a rounded off fitting on a filler pipe to an auto gearbox on which a conventional and adjustable spanner had failed to grip

Those are the ones I bought years ago at the NEC and caused a lot of amusement to the Lfeboat mechanic.

Well, I wasn't near a Lidl so I didn't get them, but thought they looked good. Obviously varying experiences here. TBH, most of the nuts I fiddle with on my MH when travelling are not under the bonnet and tend to have reasonable access, so these might have been handy.

Can't agree with the comment there's no such thing as quality and cheap - it's rare, but it does exist.
