Thought i would try and lift the mood a little, we have touched on this subject in another post but now we have some new members thought i would start a new thread,

Right, ya know the song by Jimmy cliff, "i can see clearly now"?

i used to sing,

"i can see clearly now Lorraine has gone, i can see all hospitals in my way" :lol-053:

What songs have you sang for years thinking it said something else, its ok if you cant sing, we wont take the P** :lol-053:

Only very recently I found out that Cliff wasn't singing "And to the girls in uniform" in Power to all our friends. I always thought it a bit weird.

Power to the boys who played rock 'n' roll
And made my life so sweet
And to the girls I knew before
And those I've yet to meet

Bet everyone over a certain age starts singing this now.
If you want a laugh, look here Eurovision 1973 - Cliff Richard - Power to all our friends - YouTube
The clothes and dancing are hilarious.

The Rollin' Stones "I can't get no satisfaction":

I can't get no sex in Ashton! (refers to Ashton-under-Lyne)

My young grandson used to sing "chips for free" in Dire Strait's "Money for Nothing" (chicks for free)!

i had a japanese edition of a bob dylan lp with lyrics.i wish i still had it. the guy wrote what he heard. 'through threatening my babies' became ' those red-limbed eyed babies' i don't think he got one line in any song right

i just googled 'misheard lyrics' and the first one i read was madonna'like a virgin, touched for the thirty first time'

I am very prone to doing this, having a natural tendency to interprete things the least likely way possible! It was literally only a few months ago that i found out Neil Diamond was singing "Forever in blue jeans" and not "Reverend blue jeans". I also for years thought it was Limestone Cowboy, and my daughter used to think the Squeeze song went..."and the pasta's been bottled and labelled with love".. which sounds awfully like "..the past has been bottled and labelled with love". And on a slightly different theme, my friends then small daughter used to enjoy watching "Aufwiedersein Pet"...her interpretation of these strange words was "Have we the same pet"

There's another Madonna song that goes "Bill Oddie, Bill Oddie, touch your hands all over my body"... at least in my head. I still dont know what it actually is!

I walked into a bar in Glasgow once where a local was singing Bobby Goldsboro's 'Summer for the first time' on the Karaoke.

The lyrics start;

See the tree, how big it's grown
But friend it hasn't been too long
It wasn't big

He sang;

See the tree, how big it's grown
But pal it hasnee binsalong
It wasnee big

I had to leave before I got lynched because I laughed so much

Can't remember much about the song, but instead of singing 'When the going gets tough, the tough get going', We always sang, When you go n get stuffed,' etc

Anyone remember The 3 Degrees ?

They had a number of hits before I found out it wasn't a solo singer called Freda Grieves.

"calling Jamaica"
aka: "call when you want to awake her" REM :sidewinder sleeps tonight...

hue and cry labour of love

never understood the chorus

alway sang rip off my neibour instead as that seemed ok

Of course, as a few people on this forum are aware, I would never parody well-known songs.

Nor would I record compilations into double-CD albums, together with an additional Christmas album, and sell them as fundraisers.

As for putting together a music video DVD to accompany the album - no, most definitely not me.

And, naturally, I know nothing whatsoever of the 'Motorhoming' song derived from Rod Stewart's 'Sailing'.

I rest my case......
