:wacko:Just a heads up for you. Lidl have some neat led strip lights ideal for inside cupboards etc at £4.99. Battery powered, on off switch & infra red activation. So move in front of it & it operates I think 6 bright led bulbs, only around 10 inches long, neat! Got 1 now, but may get a couple more!

Can't see them on the Lidl website. Are they on offer this week?

would they work on rechargeable batteries ?

Dunno? They last for ages on normal batteries anyway, bought 9x all together for home & MH. They used to be 2x for £10, then 2x for £12.

Just thought, if the ones on offer now are £4.99 then they may not be the same type as the ones I bought from there, sounds like it tho from ops description?

They also have some mains powered LED strips, designed to go under cupboards, a quick check of the back of the adapter plug that comes with it shows an output of 12V DC, so they could be run of a leisure battery just cut off the plug and wire it into your 12V supply.

If they are the same ones they had a year ago ish, then check the packaging, as there were some that used 8 AAA and were nominally 12v.

I bought 2 and fitted one in the rear storage and one in the loo, but hooked them up to the van LB on the van wiring instead of AAA batts.

One packed up a shrt while back, but the other is a good un and works great.

The movement sensor is well handy as open the door and there you go - no fumbling for switches!

The ones on batteries though should last ages if you cant hook them up to the LB.

Just been to 2 different stores & yes they both have them in stock! I bought 2 more, te-he. Yes, I would imagine they would work ok with rechargeable batteries also? They take only 3 AAs btw.

Yes, that may well work! I saw those ones also.

Just to be sure if you power them from your 12 volt supply include a low value inline fuse in the positive lead less than an amp will do nicely.

good idea, but if your connecting to existing wiring it will be fused somewhere.

You are of course correct however for existing halogen lighting circuits the fuse 'protecting the circuit' could be 5, 10 or 20 amps. and may burn out the led wiring rather than blowing the fuse. and i personally prefer to protect individual circuits so if one fuse blows the remaining lighting stays on. It is a timely reminder however that if you change from halogen to led lighting the fuse /s in the distribution box can be down-rated accordingly.
