How many of you have got LED lighting in your van?

I have changed nearly everything over to LED now, I am just converting the toilet light as I write this.
I fitted an LED dimmer yesterday so that I can now dim the lights and have it more cosy of a night.

I have use 3000k LEDs in the main area so they are warm white and cool white in the bathroom.

Use less energy = batteries last longer.

not me but its something im looking into. seen others use them on DIY vans and im really impressed.

Not yet, but def planning to! Meanwhile, we have 3 freestanding LED solar lights that re-charge during the day, usually keeps us going. Oh, and DH has a LED headlight which he uses when he goes to the loo at light, I gather it throws some light on things best not mentioned!! :scared:

Yes - changed over to LEDs about three years ago and would never go back. Superb light and essential for wilding because of the low power use. The initial outlay can be expensive but worth it in the long run.

I haven't got them installed in the van, but I use portable LED lamps at night for reading and general lighting. Saves the leisure battery, and provides excellent light.

Changed to LED's about a year a go. Being a cheapskate, I got them off Ebay.

They just work, have used them for about 400 hrs now and nothing's gone pop.

Some of the LEDs are on in the rear of the habitation area when driving and survive the increase in voltage from the alternator, spikes from starting the motor etc.

Would never go back.

Got a battery powered version from Asda for about a tenner, works with rechargeable batts and is usefull for all things, looking under units for that small thing that just rolled under etc.

Never go back.

Led lights, brilliant. Cost a bit, but what the hell. I am fully ledded and it worth it's weight in gold, as the batteries have no chance of running down. All under
3w and not hard on the eyes. Advice: good investment.

If you buy the ultra posh (and expensive) leather Kindle cover, it has it's own self powered LED light, very usefull when reading in the small hours!!

My van is LED free.

How easy is it to replace the lighting then for a non craftsperson?

not expensive! look for lights from hong kong, they're cheap and fine, take a bit longer to deliver, make uk suppliers look greedy

I too have several 'hands free toilet torches', a solar shed light I have converted for use in the awning and solar fairy lights all of them LED. The rest of the lights have mostly been changed to LED but Im not sure what size or type(somebody else did it for me).

Yes did this a few years ago, when they were dearer; so only changed one in each area plus the awning light, but as you never need them all on we just use the LED's when not on hook-up!

There are 18 light fittings in my van so I just changed the ones we use the most.

The 'warm white' is similar to a Halogen bulb in colour. We prefer the 'bright white'. They are by far the best for the washroom and kitchen areas and I prefer them when reading. At Lincoln Show, I bought a couple to replace the bulbs in the awning light. It is a PIR controlled light for security and it means that it can be left in that mode all night when wilding in dark areas.

... and seems to have been responsible for several broken screens, though Amazon seem to have no hesitation in replacing them.

We've recently replaced the strip lights - these were the last ones to be converted - I took the old units out and wired self adhesive strips in, though Aten say you can just stick them straight to the tubes. We can now have all the lights in the van switched on for less energy than 2 or 3 of the old halogen jobs.

We have portable LED Lanterns, Torches, etc.. but I'm not impressed with LED lighting, it does improve year by year but I haven't found even expensive ones yet which I find equal to incandescent or fluorescent lighting. I'm happy with the power consumption and Lux of my fluorescent tubes, for the time being, until they really make some real improvements in the LED stuff.

Yes done all 20 odd of mine including converting the 9watt flourescents.
