KYNREN Festival, Bishops Auckland.

What an experience!
Brilliant show !

Fantastic organisation.
We need to come again , there's too much going on, to take it all in.

Puy de Fou, in France, next..

We're going to this show for the first time end of August, Paul.

Tickets were Xmas present from the mother-out-law :)

Looking forward to it.

Result!, glad you enjoyed it. Next time you're up try and take a day out at Beamish Open Air Museum I think you would probably enjoy that too (as you seem to like history). Theres a POI right outside the entrance too ;)

If you enjoy it half as much as our family did, you'll have had a brilliant time.
It started at 9.30, being July. It was 16 degrees at 11pm. Beautiful evening. The grandsons, 13 and 10, were asleep before their parents had finished brushing their teeth.
Red car park is a good downhill walk, coming in... But the climb back did for the boys, their parents and aunt.
If your overnighting in the van, the POI at Jubilee Park, just south of Willington, where the road crosses the River Wear, is ideal.
You'll have an earlier start in September.
We hope the weather is kind to you.

I am glad you both enjoyed it Paul, I didn't know what it was so had a google and looks interesting. As we said in convo at Wills it does no harm to try things different and I am still bracing myself for a trip to the pop up globe in York might as well see what the bard was on with , might need to read a book first so I have an idea of the plot....

As an ex reject from a large comprehensive in Doncaster Ol Shaky was never part of the agenda...I did have to study Sons and Lovers by DH Lawrence it was an old fashioned mucky book,,,and my interest was more TE Lawrence and his Brough Superior Motorcycle

We went last year, staying the night before at a pub campsite, but I've forgotten where. The traffic wasn't bad in or out - we allowed plenty of time to get there and missed the worst of it. Coming back we were tucked up in bed within an hour of the end of the show.

The spectacle itself was amazing, and we plan to go again. The only thing to be aware of is that the seats are quite narrow, so you do make physical contact with your neighbour. Whether that is a good thing is your judgement!

Can't recommend it strongly enough, Andy. When you've weaned Maureen off the DERV, sling a tent and a couple of cans into your haversack. Ideal for camping on this POI.. Fields behind are part of the Wear floodplain. Toilet and waste bins on site. It's worth paying a little more for the gold seats... Unless you've got a dolly bird on the pillion !

The Sun inn, out near Barnard Castle?
This POI is more convenient and cheaper..
We were sat next to a well-upholstered lady, who wheezilly blew up n inflatable cushion. I asked if it was a whoopee cushion?
She gave me a face like a bad ham.
As she eased her ample backside onto the cushion, I blew a splendid raspberry.
She didn't encroach on my space, all night.
Jenny went very quiet, too.... Result !

Thanks, Dave.
Last there, 20 + years ago. It was more current events, than history.
Yes, we've got to come back again. We've heard it's brilliant.

And a POI right outside the gates! :)

If you also need emptying & water replenishing, or leccy charged up, feel free to call round.
We're roughly 2 miles from Beamish - sort of further up the hill and down the other side, but only about 5 mins away.

How kind, Marie.
Alas, we'll have to head back south on Tuesday. We've seen family living nearby and met some wonderful, kind folk, while parked on th POI..
If we get a little sunshine, for the solar, tomorrow, we'll be fine. Lunch tomorrow, at The Burn, Willington. Seeing long lost cousins. Then, back to reality.
