We have arrived in Benidorm after a round trip of 7,851 km, or nearly 5000 miles in old money, and Hugo hasn't missed a beat nor has anything fallen off. It still looks and feels like new. France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, back to Italy across the Adriatic on the Split/Ancona ferry, on the boat in the South of France for two months, northern Spain, West Coast of Portugal and the Algarve, Costa Del Sol and now here. Phew: we could do with a long rest!

We are in Camping Cap Blanche in Albir, -full of old clogs and a few frogs- and we will take over the apartment on the 21st October after putting Hugo into storage at Camping Raco. We took a scooter ride up the hill to the apartment complex in Calle Sierra Dorada: the views are fantastic and the uphill walk will definitely do my tummy a great deal of good!

We'll keep in touch.

Allen: are you in Benidorm yet? Would love to see you.

Hi we're parks on the beach at Altea. Cap Negret bit rough to get down here but not too bad for a couple of free quiet nights. We are meeting up with friends at Albir tonight.

You are welcome to Benidorm, the best bit is the road out,it will be full of awful British expat`s complaining about how bad the UK is and then also complaining about how bad the Spanish are too.
Many I met in my time in Spain have lived there for years yet can't be bothered to even try to speak a word of Spanish.
Enjoy:cool1:

I have met many British that come over here in there motorhomes that empty there S--t in the sea never pick up there rubbish and take the piss out of the Spainsh, glad i dont live next door to you mr happy:mad2:

When I'm in England I get the piss taken out of me because I'm Spanish, when I'm in Spain I get the piss taken out of me because I'm English. I can't win. But I don't mind, Mister Happy that's me or is it Senor Alegria?

Can be hard work learning a new lingo late in life, however most Brits residing in Spain even the most insular do pick up important words unintentionally.

Many of those getting on in years just want the easiest laid back environment why criticise or begrudge them that. Now if you're talking about young people living and working overseas then that's a different matter altogether.

For those that don't know Benidorm was named for Benny Hill, that's where he went every winter to write his sketches in the 60's.

Not true 'twas Torremolinos.

We'll not be there this year, we're on exeat duty for our 3 gkids whilst their parents are in the US.
Typing this in Tewkesbury's Wetherspoons. We pick them up Friday, then up to Leyland Saturday, then Manchester Airport Sunday to fly back to Washington to spend half-term with their parents. And 10 days later in reverse !
I take it the apartment you're staying at is in the complex that me and Eileen reccied for you last winter ?
Anyway, hope you both have a great time.....we'll be there next winter !

I knew you'd soon be along!
Depends on where I am really and what suits, and down to historical semantics, the Spanish say it's Spanish, the Brits say it's Brit the Arabs say it's,......... big yawn. One thing is certain its people are +- 90% Spanish, whatever that means. The other 10% are very furry, and we're all related to them.

Taller, not bigger!! Also more handsome!!

How predictable: I didn't ask for or need an opinion on my choice of resort, and you came in with yours right on cue!

Sorry we'll miss you Allen. Yes, we went and had a look round yesterday and it's even better than expected, especially the views! Security is dead tight too: they have to keep out those awful Brits...

Hi,simplyloco,

We stayed at Cap Blanc last year for a week, it was a bit full with long term campers but OK apart from parking across from the main gates next to the ground managers house it got a bit noisy as they parked the works vans near us and we found the trees there drop a gooey sap on the van but they did have a free wash down point.
The rib bar next door done a great Argentinian steak.

Snowbirds.

If you're in Albir, you can overnight in the large car park in the middle of town, it's allowed & it never gets busy.

We stayed in camping cap blanch January to march this year , we have friends there at the moment and hoping to join them in November, we were told that the car park in albir where the market is held is ok to stay. We hope to travel around more this time wild camping

My initial impression of the age group catered for here has been confirmed: all the loos have granny bars!

Are you renting the apartment ? if so how much does it cost and is it private or through an agent ? Also does it cost much for storing your motorhome ?
Sorry if these questions are too personal but I am trying to plan and cost for retiring and it is always better to ask someone who has done it than dive in feet first.

Not personal at all, I'm glad to help.

1. Yes, it's rented

2. Through Mediterranean Lettings: it's this one here Mediterranean Lettings

3. €25 per night for three month's winter rental

4. €1.40 per day to store the motorhome in Camping Raco's compound.

Have fun!
John

Sak if you look on the internet for MILANUNCIOS.COM you can find flats for winter lets from 250 euros per month but take care because some flats have what is called hidden charge ie water rubbish electric. just ask before you sign anything about these

Hi Sak
I have spent the last two winters in Mojacar, loads of two bedroom apartments for rent around 300-350 euro per month, water and electric averaged 50 e's a month - hope that helps

We've just seen two local coppers whizzing along on Segway scooters! Does that mean that all Police operations are now automatically balanced?
John
Five days in and loving it!
