The evacuation where most of the rescued traveled the bulk of the distance on big ships for the long distamce and small boats for the short distance work at one end. So vans to get local contributions to a collection point; artics for the long haul; vans for local distribution at the end. Nice analogy.

Ah but if they had donated £750 to DEC, the result would have been £750 of aid. What they are doing is raising many multiples of that. May God Speed Chris and Carol and bless them for getting up off thier backsides and putting their assets at the disposal of the refugees. I cannot think what it would be like if our town was blown to bits and all neighbouring towns were the same and I had to walk with my family many miles to escape to a country I know nothing about other than they would accept me. I am also ashamed of the UK government - they can dish out million pound contracts to their mates within a day, but they take weeks to help people who have been blown out of their houses.
