This only has a tenuous thread to wild camping but I need all the help I can get.
Tomorrow (14 March) I'm leaving Wales in our camper (VW Amarok with Tischer demountable) for Poland via France and Germany.
I'm heading for Przemysl on the Ukrainian border to deliver aid to Ukrainian refugees.
The Mayor of Przemysl has said that a lot of the children arriving there are traumatised, scared and exhausted - I'm sure you've seen the pictures on the telly.
He said giving them chocolate and sweets is the only thing that makes them smile.
We have set up a funding site - https://www.gofundme.com/f/its-the-...em-smile?qid=6cb80cecc1604001348822671e78da3d
Because of possible problems taking goods from UK to Europe I will buy everything in France, Germany and Poland.
In less than 24 hours we have raised nearly £800. We need more to buy as much as we can. I can squeeze a lot in if I have the funds to buy it.
This is not a scam - please contact me direct if you need more information. I am in contact with the Mayor of Przemysl regarding the delivery of goods.
Once there I will offload the camper and use the truck in any way I can to help. I will spend donations based on advice I receive there.
We are covering all transport and additional costs.

We would be grateful for your help - in terms of money and spreading the word.

Thank you, Chris and Carol

Well done Chris and Carol. Another couple in our village are doing the same as you.
A local charity shop is having a 'Ukraine week' where all sale proceeds are for the refugees. So many people are supporting Ukraine in so many ways. If love was a bomb then Putin would be blown to smithereens.

I noticed that one person had donated £500 which puts my meagre contribution to shame really.
Don't be silly Rob, a gift from the heart is beyond cost, the pound donation is of no less worth than a £1ooo one.
Bless you for caring

Peter is spot on (y)
People will give what they can actually afford to, or want to, and chip in as they see fit.

It's not a competition to see who can donate the most money, silly billy! ;)😘

There are a lot of these small vehicles taking stuff over but I wonder how effective this method is.

Surely organisations buying and transporting in bulk can provide more product per £.

I applaud the idea, just think there are better ways to meet the objectives.

Maybe true in generl but in this case the transporters are bearing the cost (I think)
Every little helps

The Op says they "are covering all transport and additional costs".
The return journey is circa 2,800 miles @ 30mpg (if they are lucky!) = 100 gal = 450 litres = £750 + ferry + tolls + food + sites etc etc.
If they had donated an equivalent amount to a large scale relief organisation it would do more good.

I'm sure their heart is in the right place, just think sometimes the heart should listen to the brain.
