Itchen Bridge Toll.

@gasgas
no doubt the prices are posted in the London Gazette so obviously they would argue there is no excuse for not having read and digested the pertinent information 😉
So people in Southampton are legally bound to read, learn and inwardly digest the contents of the London Gazette? I doubt it. . . . . .

Mind you, in about 1972 I got a parking ticket in London. I said 'harrumph', as you would. I had my camera with me and took photos of the location showing no yellow line and no signs restricting parking. As I was on Post Office duty and in the Union, they paid for a solicitor to represent me in court. The Traffic Warden lied in court saying I was parked on a yellow line. Judge said 'I have a photo here, will you come and verify this is the location?' . . . .Yes . . .. . 'Well show me the yellow line' said the judge. 'It's faded' lied the traffic warden. "There is no yellow line, and no signs restricting parking" said the judge. The traffic warden was not told off for lying in court.
Then, addressing me, Mr Judge said:
"Unfortunately although there is no indication of a parking restriction, you were parked in a restricted area. There exists a law stipulating that it is every motorists duty to know, and therefore memorise, all the restricted parking areas in Greater London. This is clearly ridiculous, however I must impose a fine on you, which is £1".
My solicitor rose and said "I plead mitigating circumstances. My client has recently got married and just started a mortgage which is costing him 50% of his income."
Mr Judge said 'I accept your mitigating circumstances and the fine is waived'.

So that's another court case I won! That makes it - three - ? or four?
