hi keith

no your not going mad, up until last year i was boating for 7 years, practicaly lived on the thing, i sold up and bought my camper, i did more or less the same thing, hardly went anywhere and even put her up for sale at the begining of this year, like you, i wasn't going anywhere, until i joined this site, and met some really nice people, and has given me the confidence to travel around, i'm a female solo camper and it sometimes can be quite daunting going out there alone, but i do, cos i love it, why dont you arrange a meet, thats what i did, only one couple turned up mind but we hit it off straight, away and we are arranging to go this weekend (if you fancy it)

get out there and enjoy,

Jenny

hi kieth
i think the short answer would yes.
but once you have been away in it a couple of times you will really get into the groove.
we've just come back from a 4 week tour of devon, dorset and somerset.
and have noticed a big increase in the number of motorhomes on tour out there.
and as you can see from this site we're all a friendly lot, and if you have any problems or just fancy a chat most of us (motorhomers) will be there for you.
if it's what you want to do DO IT.
i have spoken to dozens of people whilst away who say i always wanted to do that (buy a motorhome).
my view is that your a long time dead, so go for it.
these motorhome thingies are quite expensive, so what's the point in not using them.
i personally love it, we're off for 5 weeks on sunday, back for 3 weeks, then over to germany, france and spain for 7 weeks.
go for it and you will have loads of brilliant memories.
good luck :D:p;)

we've had ours a couple of months now, been out just the once but not wild...

trying to pluck up the courage to head out this weekend, planned a place to go during the day saturday and sunday but not knowing where we're going to stop on saturday night is stilll bothering me... muist power through lol

Been Lucky (and a bit courageous)

Hi, we got ours at the beginning of April, in time for Easter. We ended up sleeping in it the first night travelling back from Kent to Leeds - just called in at a pub in a village on the A132 and asked, told them we had set of that lunchtime from Leeds and were too tired to drive all the way back - they were fine, we had a couple or three drinks and left about 9:30 the next morning. Since then, been away at Easter to Coniston, Coniston again for May Bank holiday, Filey wild camping on bus station car park (much nicer than it sounds). Been to Scalby Mills and Whitby for Whit BH, Sewerby overnight on a pub car park and am going for a long weekend Thurs to Sunday this week starting at Scalby Mills in the evening - not bad as hubby works Saturday mornings - You've just got to get out there. WE LOVE IT - feels like having a mini holiday most weekends we're physically tired when we get back from walking the dogs loads but we are most definitely mentally refreshed.

 Hope this helps :)

Bought ours in February with all good intentions - total times away = 3!!
Makes me feel a bit ill thinking about the money we spent ...... however 3 times we have had away have been fab..... and we've got a week planned in France in September... and we've met some great people on our few travels!

had mine about 2 months been away in it 3 times now
