Is it better to buy from a Dealer close to you.

I always imagine you with a rear engined sideways bonnet Estelle or whatever made in 1968, so you get a load more miles out of it. This is new as far as I am concerned. Proton are OK just lacks dealers support and spares are hard.

Yep only a couple of dealers here, but at the money she will do me.
I had almost finnished welding up my old soda but i have started to get very bad back pains so laying under a car for hrs welding at almost 60 is madness ,any way i have had my tenners worth out of the girl and 314 th miles, so by by my old favorit girl long may she live in car heaven.

I have bought 2 vans (both Hymers) from dealers who were not close to me. The first from Brownhills at Newark , only problem i had was a water pump packed up on a trip to Holland and it was sorted by them on my way back home from Dover so did not have the problem of going from Manchester to Newark. The second i bought from a dealer the other side of Preston ,I did have a few problems with this van and even though it was only 60 miles away the hassle of getting trains and buses to take the van back and then get home again i decided it was easier to sort any of the little niggles myself .( a lot of the problems were a 7 year old van with one owner that had hardly been used ).My local dealer Spinneymotorhomes is only half hour away and they also supply a courtesy car so ideal. (i don't intend to buy any more vans by the way).

So, are you going to change name to trevproton. 😀

G......p C........s

As long as it's not Glossop Caravans:scared::scared::scared::scared:, although are 'Dicksons' another branch ?

GC should be another of those unmentionable names...we did and have bitterly regretted it ever since. I have never before written so many complaints to one company in my entire life (and considering said life was spent trying to prise acceptable work out of the building industry both at bth at hope and abroad...that is condemnation indeed!!
