I don't think I'll be crossing the dearest stretch of water in Europe in the near future but if anyone is coming this way and I can help with information I'll be more than happy to do so. that also goes to any one else who dares to cross the dearest and shortest stretch of water in the planet lol lol

I thought my recent trip to NI was well worth the £255 ferry fare.

Welcome aboard FD, Scotland is well worth a visit, you will not be disappointed by the Highlands & Islands, any more than your ancestors were, but please no rape & pillage, even if you come in your own boats!

I did join & found it an excellent forum, but their 10 post limit stopped me contributing until I paid. End of my contributions. Seems a bit daft to me but it's their forum so they make the rules. I stayed here because free members are not restricted. I still visit & read, but it is frustrating that I cannot help answer questions or offer info or sites.
 
Thanks for the warm welcome folks, Lots of interesting reading on here. Smaug, the Highlands and Islands are high on my wish list of places to spend three or four weeks touring around. Disappointing to read that raping and pillaging can no longer be included on the itinerary. :D Especially after giving you the whiskey recipe :lol-049:

The story I heard is that, yes, you showed the Scots how it was done, but then they worked out how to do it properly . . . :p



However, my personal view is that the Scots actually only perfected the "Marketing" bit, cos many whiskeys are better than some Scottish Malts & less likely to get diluted/ polluted by grain spirits.

BTW, while I am of Irish descent, I love all the Celtic countries (oh & Wales . . .)

It would be great to have an Irish contact...I was told my great grandparents were from Cork...I planned to visit last year, then this year but it didn't happen, maybe next year.
