Ipad Mini mount

Hi, Has anyone used an Ipad mini as a Sat Nav , if so how do you mount it on the dash / screen , any lessons learned?

Hi, I have yet to try it, the plan was to get a cheapish mount then try some of the free apps such as waze or map.me andsee how they stack up against my temperamental tom tom.
 
There is a free HUD app called DigiHUD that I have used as a speedo.
 
Hav used mapme it's quite good , got an ashtray on dash which when open is ideal for mini iPad :rolleyes2: Stan
 
I use an 8" Galaxy Tab as my SatNav, which is roughly the same size as an iPad mini.

I bought a cheap (5 quid) tablet suction mount from eBay, which was absolutely useless for sticking to the windscreen but, as luck would have it, my van has space for a Double DIN radio, but only has a single-DIN unit fitted. The sucker from the mount fits in the spare slot really snugly and holds the tablet really securely.

It is also slightly down and to my left alongside the rear view camera screen, so it's not in my sightline whilst driving. Difficult to describe, and unfortunately I don't have a photo, but I find it great as a sat nav / route planning / navigation tool.

Which mapping / satnav app do you use?
 
I use a flexible spider mount my son bought me. I ordered another couple handy gadget for holding cameras, torches, etc..

OsmAnd+

Does everything I need and more. I don't carry a SatNav or paper maps any more.

I'm surprised more people round these parts don't use it.

I use a normal iPad with copilot Europe installed have used it for 6 weeks in France with perfect routes every time used with a suction mount gaffa taped to the dashboard clipboard a bit messy but never fell off
