I am thinking of getting an iPad and have today been offered this deal..

iPad 3 16GB. 2GB 3G Data, 2GB of BT open zone wifi,
24.99+ VAT (on a business contract) 2 year contract, iPad free.

Does this sound a good deal or not???:confused:

Anyone seen any good deals on them, Im not sure whether to buy one outright and just get a sim card or have one on contract so I don't have to pay for one up front?

Any ideas/help much appreciated

i got the wifi only one and have never felt the need for the 3g one i did not want a bill and the end of every month
and if i do what to use the internet on it when im out and about i just use the hotspot off my iphone that was its free to use my ipad out of the house

so for me this is not a good deal just another bill you dont need every month

I did wonder about tethering my iphone to one to get wifi but I don't have the hotspots on mine, its on o2 and an added extra. Not sure of the cost to add it, maybe that may be a cheaper way to do it, get the bolt on and a cheaper ipad??

i would definately look in to getting the bolt on i have the smallest gig one and have still got loads of space on it
iv had mine for about 2 years got loads on it tons of apps, films, music

Hello Lotty! I've also got a wifi only iPad for the same contract free reason.I took it to Spain at Christmas and used free wifi spots, worked better in France though as seemed to be more free wifi. Most of the time it's at home using home wifi. Also have an iPhone which can connect to iPad.
So if you don't want another monthly bill go for the wifi only and use through your phone.:pc:

Get the 'just wi-fi' and then always park next to Phil and piggy back his Internet access?

Or is that just me?

i also have an ASUS Transformer ipad with docking keyboard wi-fi version, and use the 3 MIFI dongle which costs 15,99 per month for 5 gb data allowance works very well, when i'm home just connects to home broadband,
Solarman.

I guess it also depends on your data usage, Lotty. I use about 7GB a month so 2GB would be no good for me. I'd be looking for at least 5GB on the 3G. BT Openzone not always so useful. It can get very busy depending on location and speed drops badly.

I'm glad you posted this question Lotty.
It's my daughter's 10th birthday soon and I'm considering getting us, sorry her, an ipad.

If you keep an eye out on Ebay for Ebuyer.com you can pick up a Ipad 2 16gb Wifi only for £299. Then get yourself a 3 Mifi and some cheap PAYG mobile broadband sim cards. You can pick up 1gb for about £4 the data lasts a month or until you use it up. You can also get 3gb & 12gb versions which last 3 or 12 months from when you start using them.
Have a look at Amazon for the sim cards.
Hope this helps.:goodluck:

ipads are agressively marketed and have something of a cult status but I would take a careful look at what other tablets are available. ASUS have some great tabs and docking pads. Less money and more features.

I'm posting this from an ASUS clam shell PC. It's very similar in size to a pad but with a great keyboard. This cost half what an ipad does with a lot more features.

I'm not saying don't get an ipad, it may suit you, but many people just think "ipad" because the name comes to mind. Look carefully at the alternatives. If you want value, you may be surprised.

Firefox has a oint, BUT I did my homework with regards to alternative tablets. Remember the VW Golf advert ... It sound just like a Golf. Well, this was my experience when asking various dealers about their tablet against the IPad. And funny enough it was an Asus rep saying "I have an Asus as well as an IPad at home" that sold the iPad to me. If a rep who works for Asus and gets staff rates still feels he needs to buy an iPad then it must be better?

I am writing this n said iPad, which is now the computer of choice for all the family.

I rebelled against the Apple propaganda/marketing and stubbornly went down the Android route for 2yrs
Having caved in to the 4s 7 months ago I can honestly say I feel a complete dick for not doing it sooner.
The best phone, so good it feels like brand new every time I use it and I expect all Apple products are the same class!

Mifi gigs!

wish i could understand a word of what you're saying.....kid's today, eh?

well guys, today I have phoned o2 and changed my tariff to support tethering,(for the same price) I get unlimited wifi so I can now tether to my laptop.
The lady said that o2 business which I am on, does not support tethering with an ipad at the moment. Is there a way around this? Or do I have to forget the ipad until my tariff catches up with the market demand?

thanks
