I don't think I really need one TBH, but was in LIDL today and decided that the own-brand 'Parkside' 1200W Inverter Generator they had was worth getting at the price ticket as a handy just in case type unit.

The specs are 1100W Continuous Power, 1200W Peak, and a 5Hr max duty time.
Output is stated to be same as a standard mains outlet so pure sine wave pattern.
Price was £129.00

The one key bit of info I DON'T have or yet know is the noise level though - that I will find out in next couple of days and if too much, will take it back for refund.

Any one bought one of these LIDL generators? thoughts?

Bought a Aldi similar a year ago and that runs at 65db, but still not quiet enough for me. Forgot to mention that mine is 2000w.

What pos use ,i cannot thing of any but the price seems good, for me they would be good wired into house lecy so if power cut you would have lights oil burner and tv.

That is my thinking, Trev. Should be something that will last a decent length of time and a useful backup unit.

Looked on eBay and they seem to be fetching (not just asking) £40 on top of the regular price?

Yes good for home with a change over switch after meter & before fuse box,
Tv 100w ,led bulbs 2 to 3 rooms 20/30w oil burner /pump 80w fridge which will on start up hit high amps but should all run on that inverter.

Scroll to approx 1.45 and you see the dB level on the top YouTube
Thanks. That's very handy.

95dB is rather loud for the type of environment I can imagine using in :(
It is a good unboxing review there and seems the downsides are minor considering the buy price - IF you can live with them. And I doubt I would ever - or very very rarely - use it with that noise level, so I think it will be going back still boxed up. (It is odd they didn't put the dB rating on the info anywhere on the box? I guess maybe put too many people off?)

I saw this video after the one in the link ... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jGSZV1pyZ4w
Guy checking power tools working on it. It was a little surprising you could hear the generator above the grinder!
Seems like a great little Genny for building something in middle of nowhere, but not if anywhere close to other folk.

Oh well.

I've got the 2.8kw Parkside Lidl generator cost about £179 I've used it a fair bit at my storage lockup for lights and power tools. Can't fault it for the cost - although a tad noisy to use anywhere near residential / campers unless 100% emergency...

I bought the exact same one about 3 years back, it ran ok for a while only used occasionally in the shed then it gave up producing electricity. Motor still ran perfect. I tried taking back to Lidl's, they said it was RTB (that's Return to Base) at my own expense for repair. Due to the weight virtually impossible at a reasonable price. I sold it on e-bay for a few quid. It was very loud in use and the more output the louder it got. It's also very big and heavy to be carting round in a MoHo. If I remember correctly you have to make up an Earth Spike into the ground as well.

I don't know which standard or standards these generator manufacturers use.
Or even if they have to strictly comply with any.
Could be that it varies. Lidls Parkside might measure @ 10m full
power, and someone else perhaps @ 20m half full power. Both might
print just the 95dB result on the box.

Ah well. Returned to LIDL on Monday still sealed up and got refund back to card. No hassles.
Worth a shot. Might look out for a Honda 2000i that someone just wants rid of to make space (yeah, right :D )

Looks good. Lot more money though. The LIDL one was an 'on a whim' buy due to the low price (just £130) and I don't know if I really need one anyway (I have run a 1000W heater off my batteries to take the chill off in the evening a couple of weeks back and the SOC only dropped a few percent).

Of course you don't need a generator to take the chill off your Beast.
You need to fit a refillable GAS system and heater so that you and The Beast are properly warm.
C'mon - you know it makes sense!

Colin :):):)

I’ve been parked up next to a few vans wae those diesel heaters noisy things they slowly drive you mad just like the fridge trucks. But if I had one it would be the bollocks same wae a genny there annoying but not too the user who probably couldent give a toss. Best thing I’ve seen in ages is Rae streetsleepers wind turbine it even looks cool and silent. Anyway why are we talking about heaters it’s 30 plus outside

No reason for a diesel heater to be noisy....
Fitted correctly and with inlet and exhaust silencers mine is all but inaudible from more than a metre away....
And frankly if you can hear it then more fool you for parking too bloody close.
