Internal silver screens

Got externals with the van but a pain to fit when it's dark and raining and when windy the flapped a bit. Got internals and much less hassle looks more stealth and no flapping in the wind.

We use internal screens on ours and a quick going over the windscreen in the morning with a Karcher window vac and your ready to go

Karchers are fab! thumb.gif

I know which ones are the warmest and internal one don’t come close to external but that’s just my choice.

That is an important thing for me too... i frequently overnight in very isolated spots and i feel very comfortable knowing that i can "escape" if necessary without having to go outside on my own.

Each to their own....

We have both and NEVER use External. Internal for us too. Take up easy 1/4: or 1/5 less space. Condensation or wet external ? Plus we always park nose out ready for a quick 'off' should the need arise ( never has but with young daughter taking no chances). Try driving away in an emergnecy with external blinds on ... impossible without carnage !

Internal are ok for a bit of playing about in the summer but external every time in the winter , where is everyone parking to have to make these quick getaways ?
Are we missing out as all we seem to find are dogging sites !

No different to asking why do people build all those houses where they're gonna get burgled? It doesnt prey on our mind we never think about it. Its just routine at an unfamiliar location urban or isolated/rural. And yes if uncomfortabe with that 6th sense we dont park up at all ( very rare too but its happened).

Horses for courses like everything.

I have external ones for my van, which is a VW T4. They work well but I only use them if I'm stopping more than a couple of nights and it's winter. They take up a lot of storage room which I don't have so I leave them at home the rest of the year and make do with the curtains. They are a bit of a faff to get on, especially if it is windy when I'm trying to do it, and I get cold and wet if it's snowing or raining during the process.

My previous van was a Ducatto base, I couldn't have reached to put external ones on so I had internal screens. They worked well too and were much easier to put on, also took up less storage space. I used them a lot more because they were easier. Easier to take one down to let light in during day or see out, as well.

Condensation - have had it with both although worse with the internals but soon clears when you take them off.

On balance I prefer the internal ones.

If we were on a site or parked up somewhere very safe we will use external. If in the slightest doubt as to the area we will use the internal screens. External definitely better.

External warmer than internal? I've never been cold in my van, winter or summer, but then I have my heater on very high ;)

Regards,
Del

Peter caz will bring the screens to new year meeting
Internal
Sorry Peter could not find that post you asked about

For insulation and clear screens in the morning it’s external every time.
But as others have said they require storage, they get wet and have to be dried out, if you have to make a quick get away they would make it impossible, and they can be difficult in certain circumstances to put on.
So I use both depending on circumstances.
Very much horses for courses.

We use a Leiffheit Window Cleaner long reach pole to remove most of the moisture [2 minute job], then fold the silver screen covers and place them in the shower to dry. Quicker than waiting for the screen to defrost and more environmentally friendly
