well ive been sorting out paperwork from years back. to throw out and burn,...did car insurance docs. yesterday.
on looking thru docs
it seems that up until 2012 i had 19 years no claims bonus......
i then changed ins. company
it seems as tho i was only getting 9 yrs NCB with them for the full length of time i was with them (many yrs)
a few yrs ago i again switched companies. again only 9 yrs NCB.....

recall reading a post on here a few weeks/months ago...that they had 20 years NCB... .cannot remember whether they lost it on changing comapnies

QUESTION IS:.....is it the norm now for insurance companies to only allow max of 9 yrs NCB??????

many thanks for any replies.

Many limit it to 9 years Trixie some less than that apparently.

I don't know of any insurance companies that gives you a discount for every single year you have had no claims, certainly every insurance I've ever had in decades has been limited to around 9 years and when filling in any forms they always ask you to tick a box which iirc has a maximum value shown as 9+, you may well have had 19 years of no claims, but not received a penny discount for anything over 9 years.

thank you .....at least i know now that its the norm for 9 yrs max

i remember many many moons ago.......if you didnt make a claim...
..cost of the insurance came down.....yes down.....suppose they had a limit to it tho.
....hey ho ..those were the days....im talking about the 1960s .

It's pretty much the same now as it was then for most people, but once you hit the limit for maximum no claims you will not get any further discount.
Where many companies make a profit is by sharply increasing the base price, and that's where you have to either negotiate with them or move to another company.
