I’m in Spain as I usually am this time of the year. I’ve been with C&CC for years - each year they email me a quote which I accept. Realised it was getting close to renewal and checked emails - couldn’t find it so I phoned to be told they’d sent me an email saying I have been declined insurance as my van is parked on the road. I told her I would arrange to have it on a neighbour’s drive. She came back with a quote well over double what I’ve been paying!! Any advice on who to contact? I’ve got a week to sort it! Nothing to do with the new laws re quotes for old and new customers I suppose! Help! 🙏

They will knock you back if you park on the street . Safeguard and one other [can't remember which one] are the only companies I've been able to find
I didn’t realise that 👍 also the problem is Carol will get higher quotes because she is so close to her renewal date you get the cheapest quotes 4/5 weeks before it’s due the companies know she is desperate now.

Stavely head.
Been with them for a few years. Not sure on street parking angle.
Hope you get sorted.

Look at Admeral or the co-op.
I was with the coop for many years , only small annual increases each year and no rip off prices, then a girl in the office made a balls up, ie didn't know what a camper van was, had me priced as a 25 ton truck.

Try Adrian flux. They have a specialist camper dept.

Also do a search for self build camper insurance for less mainstream insurers who might be more keen on your custom. I'm sure it won't matter if yours isn't a self build.

@AIBinsurance Have you asked AIB via the forum? Maybe they can help.

Hope you get sorted.

Hate to say this Carol, but you will probably also have to state that you have been declined insurance if you switch to a new insurer.

I'm not sure if that will affect the price but you know what they are like! If they ask the question though make sure you tell them as they love any excuse to deny a claim. Hope you get sorted soon.

I am with AIB, my van is parked on my drive. I don’t really see what the difference is. Also when out and about it’s parked in various types of location. I can possibly see why they might charge a bit extra for street parking, but to refuse outright seems ridiculous.

Totally agree but the fact is they do .
Or can do . Somebody pointed out it could be a postcode thing .
Though , thinking back , I'm pretty sure the first time I got told this it was stated that they just didn't do it .
I did email the AIB contact on here after being refused but they couldn't help
The above is some time ago so may not be totally accurate
